I am not entirely sure what happened, but I summered the hell out of June. This month has been full of bonfires in the backyard, pretty orchids blooming everywhere, loads of kale growing in the garden, sunglasses, comfy shoes, pretty sunsets, heaps of coffee, and lots of girly, summery outfits.

Jen was sweet enough to bring me as her date to the Detroit Fireworks this month through her work, which is really a once in a lifetime experience for someone like me. We wore our most sparkly outfits (to look like fireworks, of course), danced to a hilarious band, drank wine, got a bunch of swag, took ridiculous photos in the photo booth, ate yummy food, were on TV and photographed for Hour! I felt so fancy and had an absolute blast hanging out with Jen's coworkers, who ended up knowing some mutual friends (everyone knows everyone in this city).

I also went camping for the first time of the year, which I already posted about here. I am so pumped for the two that I have planned for July, I am going kayaking on both trips, and I have never been. Much excite.

Also, also! I placed third in my age group for the Run, Walk, Boom 5k fundraiser that I ran on Saturday morning! Considering I have barely ran this year, and had to run in the pouring rain, I am quite pleased with myself.

June has been a great month, and although I am not a huge fan of July, this summer has been pretty good so far, so I am staying optimistic and all that jazz. Come on July, bring it. 

LOOK AT THAT FACE. Want to know why I have been such a slacker blogger lately? That face. Right there. Well, that and the fact that I have been insanely busy, but still. PUPPY FACE.

March was a very busy month, and I am really looking forward to a much quieter April. As I type this, I am barely able to keep my eyes open. I am not going to lie, I have been feeling pretty down today. So instead of resting (I had the day off from work), I decided to clean the entire house, except for the library, because I am going to just burn that room down. I don't particularly like cleaning, but being able to find the coffee grinder, and clean underwear are both gratifying experiences. I decided to run through my usual list of activities that help cheer me the fuck up, and so I've decided to share them with you lovelies.

First, start with coffee. Heaps of it. Then sometime in the late afternoon, switch to tea. I am addicted to this peach-ginger tea that I bought from Eastern Market last fall, I am not positive, but I am pretty sure that there is crack in it. Next, blast some music. Whenever I am in one of my super-femme moods, I play something like The Donnas, or Taylor Swift. Playing shitty pop music when I am down sometimes helps put me back in that hella-femme mindset. I am particular fond of this song by T-Swift, because she really belts it out, and I sing along horribly to it every single morning in my car. I mean what.

Next, eat an avocado. Because avocados are amazeballs. Then, bake something yummy. It is really awesome to know that if you just mix a few ingredients together and pop it in the oven for a bit, you get this amazing yummy thing! And if you are nice, you can share it with others! Or, if you have a Kyle, he will eat all of said yummy thing. BONUS: There is a fair chance that your house will not smell like dog farts for the rest of the evening, because instead it will smell like awesome baked goods. Win-win.

If all else fails, watch a few episodes of Gilmore Girls. If Lorelei and Rory can't cheer you up, Luke's butt probably will.

But in the end, it is a good thing to remember that there are those out there who really care about you, and will be there for you. I have an amazing family, and incredible friends. I love them all so, so very much, and am eternally grateful for all of them. Even if life is a giant turd on occasion, everything will be alright in the end. 

Oh, and I totally got a new tattoo last month, yay!

I actually remembered to document an outfit over the weekend (hey remember when this used to be a fashion blog, and I would talk about clothes and other dumb things?), so I am hoping to get another post up soon. Hey everyone! I am alive and well, but behind on just about everything in my life. Good time to ignore the important stuff and write a blog post, correct? Yes, good. 

What have I been doing for the past week? Aside from getting my ass kicked at work, I have been testing my introverted limits by way of spending time with friends, and copious amounts of alcohol. I am pretty sure that I need to banish myself from a certain bar in Ferndale for a little bit on account of yaking two bartenders ears off. But, this is a big thing! I am slowly becoming more comfortable talking to strangers. I am convinced that I won't make this a regular habit, and it seems that alcohol is the deciding factor of whether or not to talk to random people, or sit in the corner hating life. 

ANYWAY, enough talk about booze. Lets discuss my new tattoo! Early xmas gift, FTW! I chose these lyrics from the song "Smile", from The Green Album  by Weezer. "Smile" isn't my favorite Weezer song, The Green Album isn't my favorite Weezer album, but it was my first Weezer album. I just love the simplicity of these lyrics, the simplicity of the script that Kyle from Signature Tattoo  (seriously Michigan peoples, THE BEST place to get a tattoo!) came up with, and how well it goes with my Michigan/heart tattoo. I am beyond ecstatic!

I am actually really looking forward to January, the coldest, longest month of the year. I want to hermit it up for a bit, even though it looks like I will be seeing even less of Kyle next semester due to his school, and his work schedule. It is okay though, I have a puppy to train, and a little brother to terrorize. So life will still be crazy. 

For now? I am tackling one thing at a time and just trying to catch up. Happy Monday!

Other than that we saw some movies; Catching Fire, part 1, and Dumb & Dumber 2, ate out a few times, slept in a lot, and celebrated Thanksgiving with the families (post coming on that soon!). I spent all of Sunday cooking things with the leftover turkey, and we still have so much more! I also spent a lot of time not going to the gym, so I am going to cry this week.  I am not entirely sure if I feel well-rested, but I do have sooooo much to do and I am very much excited. I can't help it, I love all of the cheesy holiday stuff, I am getting soft in my old age. Holiday movies, going to downtown Rochester to see the lights, drinking hot cocoa, drinking Christmas ales, and vanilla porters, going to my works annual, unofficial Christmas party, shopping for little gifts for loved ones, spending an entire day baking things for people (and myself), and of course, Christmas. Trying to see everyone this time of year gets super crazy and stressful, but it can sometimes be a lot be a lot of fun. I cannot wait!

One more weekend gone, but one more week until our staycation! Sorry, but not really. This past weekend turned out to be a lot more relaxing than I thought it would, cancelled plans do that, but I am more than fine with a lazy weekend. 

Friday night we went to our friend Brian's birthday party, met some awesome people, and had some great food. We then stopped by Ferndale to catch up with some other friends, and to have a few more drinks. We ended up at home pretty late, but it was a good start to the weekend after such a busy week. 

Saturday, Kyle, Dan, and I headed out for breakfast at Coolidge Cafe in Oak Park. After a quick coffee run, Dan went home, and Kyle and I decided a nap was in order, before we sat on our butts and watched TV for the rest of the night (productive much?). We are watching so many shows right now, Gotham, Sleepy Hollow, Grimm, Red Band Society, and New Girl.  I think we have a problem. 

Sunday we went our for brunch again, this time with Kyle's family. After, Kyle, Brian and I headed over to the Rustbelt Market in Ferndale for a bit. I already picked out a few things that I want to come back for on small business Saturday, Christmas gifts, yo! We also hit up both Value Worlds in our area (the only thrift store open on Sunday), and we ended up with some really awesome stuff. Kyle and I both got some thick sweaters for $2-$4 a piece, you can't beat that! I also bought two vintage dresses for cheap, and some awesome decor for the house. I told Kyle that our house had a "touch of 70's" to it, and he looked at me and said "It looks like the 1970's barfed all over our house." Whatever Kyle! It is going to be a little while before the living room is done, but I seriously cannot wait! It will definitely have some 1970's touches, including the giant wooden clock that Kyle picked up (yep, he is responsible as well). 

I have a really busy week, at home and at work, but I think I should be able to squeeze in a few posts. EXCITE. Though, it is supposed to be cold as balls tomorrow, so I might just hibernate instead.

Sunday we got up and went to breakfast (another post on that to come this week!), took outfit photos, and then headed home to do chores. I made a batch of veggie stock, a double batch of potato-leek soup, and a sweet potato pie. I really hope that the pie came out well, I was too stuffed to have any last night. I also cleaned everything, and I think I have convinced Kyle that we need a deep-freezer. I have so much shit stuffed in our freezer, that it can't even be opened without something falling out, so naturally, I am the only one who is allowed to open it. 

I love November, it is the last month of my favorite season, it is the month of food, and it is the perfect month for watching Sweet November, amiright? I have lots coming up this week: outfit posts, a foodie post, and a post featuring one of my favorite places in Ferndale, so stay tuned!

Sunday we slept in again, then decided to clean up around the house before heading out to run a few errands. We came home and I started a bunch of batch cooking: Potato and leak soup, pesto, goulash, veggie broth, and I have some tomato sauce that I need to finish jarring up. Between all of this, and all of the coupons for free birthday dinners we have this month, we will be feasting like kings! 

I am excited for the outfit posts I have coming up, Kyle was nice enough to drive around looking for nice, fall backdrops for two of my outfits over the weekend, what a guy, I should marry him, or something ;)
