Little Bits: Thanksgiving Vacation

11:06 AM

Whew! I cannot believe our vacation is already over, wahhhhh! Time flies when you're pigging out! The month of food, the staycation of food, food everything, forever.

Our Staycation started by going out with friends both Friday, and Saturday night, and even got a chance to see one of our favorite local bands, Stone Clover! We then spent all of Sunday at IKEA, followed by relaxing on the couch, catching up on all of our shows, and drinking beers.

I worked my butt off on the living room, and of course, it still needs work. I ended up painting in the evening, which of course was a terrible idea due to the fact that we have the worse lighting ever, so I have lots of little touch-ups to do. I also completely forgot to do the baseboards, so I will have to add that to the list. Along with the baseboards in the kitchen, hallway, and spare room, because I neglected those as well (professional slacker, right here!). At lease it is habitable, and it looks pretty nice with our christmas tree up, so there's that.

Yes! We already have our christmas decorations up. Well, most of them. We haven't gotten to the outside ones yet, but still. We totally bought the Charlie Brown, discount, crooked-ass tree, but it has character! I also didn't have to move anything out of the room to make room for it, so that is always a plus for me.

We had time to go on a tiny thrifting trip, woot woot! I scored some books, a record, and a cute vest that I have no idea how I am going to style up. Kyle bought some cardigans, his collection is beginning to outnumber mine.

For the most part, we skipped out on Black Friday shopping. We did stop in my mom's work to embarrass the hell out of her, but that was during normal shopping hours. We did venture out of the house for Small Business Saturday, and got a few things for gifts this year, as well as a few things for ourselves (like you do), mostly records. Hall & Oats, Ryan Adams & The Cardinals, Joan Armatrading, Jim Croce, and Iron & Wine. Much Excite!

Other than that we saw some movies; Catching Fire, part 1, and Dumb & Dumber 2, ate out a few times, slept in a lot, and celebrated Thanksgiving with the families (post coming on that soon!). I spent all of Sunday cooking things with the leftover turkey, and we still have so much more! I also spent a lot of time not going to the gym, so I am going to cry this week.  I am not entirely sure if I feel well-rested, but I do have sooooo much to do and I am very much excited. I can't help it, I love all of the cheesy holiday stuff, I am getting soft in my old age. Holiday movies, going to downtown Rochester to see the lights, drinking hot cocoa, drinking Christmas ales, and vanilla porters, going to my works annual, unofficial Christmas party, shopping for little gifts for loved ones, spending an entire day baking things for people (and myself), and of course, Christmas. Trying to see everyone this time of year gets super crazy and stressful, but it can sometimes be a lot be a lot of fun. I cannot wait!

1) Kyle, being a lumberjack (he's okay).
2) Thrifting finds.
3) Out shopping for Small Business Saturday.
4) Trees.
5) New (to us) clock for the living room.
6) Freezing our asses off at the parade.
7) Tree downtown in Campus Martius.
8) Our little tree.

  10. Sounds like the perfect staycation. I love a good staycation, Kris and I have one planned for my family leave at Christmas. It's all about the little trips here and there, the eating, the sleeping and just generally having time to do stuff.

The vest is definitely cute, but I can never decide the best way to style them and they make me feel kind of awkward haha. More awkward ;)
