I am not entirely sure what happened, but I summered the hell out of June. This month has been full of bonfires in the backyard, pretty orchids blooming everywhere, loads of kale growing in the garden, sunglasses, comfy shoes, pretty sunsets, heaps of coffee, and lots of girly, summery outfits.

Jen was sweet enough to bring me as her date to the Detroit Fireworks this month through her work, which is really a once in a lifetime experience for someone like me. We wore our most sparkly outfits (to look like fireworks, of course), danced to a hilarious band, drank wine, got a bunch of swag, took ridiculous photos in the photo booth, ate yummy food, were on TV and photographed for Hour! I felt so fancy and had an absolute blast hanging out with Jen's coworkers, who ended up knowing some mutual friends (everyone knows everyone in this city).

I also went camping for the first time of the year, which I already posted about here. I am so pumped for the two that I have planned for July, I am going kayaking on both trips, and I have never been. Much excite.

Also, also! I placed third in my age group for the Run, Walk, Boom 5k fundraiser that I ran on Saturday morning! Considering I have barely ran this year, and had to run in the pouring rain, I am quite pleased with myself.

June has been a great month, and although I am not a huge fan of July, this summer has been pretty good so far, so I am staying optimistic and all that jazz. Come on July, bring it. 

Sorry about the lack of posting this year guys, but I have been super busy these past few weeks. Lots of weekends out with friends, cleaning projects, oh, and that work thing. I switched up my diet thanks to help from my friend Anne, and I have been more motivated to go to the gym, so I have been hitting up that place 3-4 times per week. I have already lost five pounds since the photos in my last post were taken, and I am really excited to keep going. 

However, going to the gym, after working eight hours, sitting in traffic, running errands, then having to figure out dinner, clean, and get everything ready for the next day, isn't always exciting. So, I have been using a reward system by way of something beauty-related to keep me going. I like to do make something simple like the coffee face scrub, or the burning mask that I posted last week, but sometimes I will just paint my nails, or take a relaxing bath instead of a shower. ALL of the girly pampering!

Okay, so, that being said, I had a pretty fucking awesome bath tonight, I am not going to lie. I dug out this great eucalyptus and spearmint epsom salt that I bought over the summer, and added some dried hops that my friend Anne gave me. My bath was suuuuupper relaxing, and my skin was soft, and smelled amazing after. 

Oh, and sometimes I pour myself a glass of wine beforehand (then take three hours to drink it, because I forget about it), but since Kyle is home tonight, he suggested beermosas. We use Short's Soft Parade, and orange juice. I just split the one bottle between two wine glasses, then topped them off with orange juice, much yum!

Next, I dried my hair and put in some Velcro rollers. I was dawlding about on the interwebz, and discovered that if you have super fine hair (ahem,) putting it all up in rollers after you dry it helps to give it some lift. If you happen to come around my house at around 9 pm, I can safely say that I am rocking the sexiest look ever. Word. 

I am actually really looking forward to January, the coldest, longest month of the year. I want to hermit it up for a bit, even though it looks like I will be seeing even less of Kyle next semester due to his school, and his work schedule. It is okay though, I have a puppy to train, and a little brother to terrorize. So life will still be crazy. 

For now? I am tackling one thing at a time and just trying to catch up. Happy Monday!

Other than that we saw some movies; Catching Fire, part 1, and Dumb & Dumber 2, ate out a few times, slept in a lot, and celebrated Thanksgiving with the families (post coming on that soon!). I spent all of Sunday cooking things with the leftover turkey, and we still have so much more! I also spent a lot of time not going to the gym, so I am going to cry this week.  I am not entirely sure if I feel well-rested, but I do have sooooo much to do and I am very much excited. I can't help it, I love all of the cheesy holiday stuff, I am getting soft in my old age. Holiday movies, going to downtown Rochester to see the lights, drinking hot cocoa, drinking Christmas ales, and vanilla porters, going to my works annual, unofficial Christmas party, shopping for little gifts for loved ones, spending an entire day baking things for people (and myself), and of course, Christmas. Trying to see everyone this time of year gets super crazy and stressful, but it can sometimes be a lot be a lot of fun. I cannot wait!

One more weekend gone, but one more week until our staycation! Sorry, but not really. This past weekend turned out to be a lot more relaxing than I thought it would, cancelled plans do that, but I am more than fine with a lazy weekend. 

Friday night we went to our friend Brian's birthday party, met some awesome people, and had some great food. We then stopped by Ferndale to catch up with some other friends, and to have a few more drinks. We ended up at home pretty late, but it was a good start to the weekend after such a busy week. 

Saturday, Kyle, Dan, and I headed out for breakfast at Coolidge Cafe in Oak Park. After a quick coffee run, Dan went home, and Kyle and I decided a nap was in order, before we sat on our butts and watched TV for the rest of the night (productive much?). We are watching so many shows right now, Gotham, Sleepy Hollow, Grimm, Red Band Society, and New Girl.  I think we have a problem. 

Sunday we went our for brunch again, this time with Kyle's family. After, Kyle, Brian and I headed over to the Rustbelt Market in Ferndale for a bit. I already picked out a few things that I want to come back for on small business Saturday, Christmas gifts, yo! We also hit up both Value Worlds in our area (the only thrift store open on Sunday), and we ended up with some really awesome stuff. Kyle and I both got some thick sweaters for $2-$4 a piece, you can't beat that! I also bought two vintage dresses for cheap, and some awesome decor for the house. I told Kyle that our house had a "touch of 70's" to it, and he looked at me and said "It looks like the 1970's barfed all over our house." Whatever Kyle! It is going to be a little while before the living room is done, but I seriously cannot wait! It will definitely have some 1970's touches, including the giant wooden clock that Kyle picked up (yep, he is responsible as well). 

I have a really busy week, at home and at work, but I think I should be able to squeeze in a few posts. EXCITE. Though, it is supposed to be cold as balls tomorrow, so I might just hibernate instead.

Sunday we got up and went to breakfast (another post on that to come this week!), took outfit photos, and then headed home to do chores. I made a batch of veggie stock, a double batch of potato-leek soup, and a sweet potato pie. I really hope that the pie came out well, I was too stuffed to have any last night. I also cleaned everything, and I think I have convinced Kyle that we need a deep-freezer. I have so much shit stuffed in our freezer, that it can't even be opened without something falling out, so naturally, I am the only one who is allowed to open it. 

I love November, it is the last month of my favorite season, it is the month of food, and it is the perfect month for watching Sweet November, amiright? I have lots coming up this week: outfit posts, a foodie post, and a post featuring one of my favorite places in Ferndale, so stay tuned!

Sunday we slept in again, then decided to clean up around the house before heading out to run a few errands. We came home and I started a bunch of batch cooking: Potato and leak soup, pesto, goulash, veggie broth, and I have some tomato sauce that I need to finish jarring up. Between all of this, and all of the coupons for free birthday dinners we have this month, we will be feasting like kings! 

I am excited for the outfit posts I have coming up, Kyle was nice enough to drive around looking for nice, fall backdrops for two of my outfits over the weekend, what a guy, I should marry him, or something ;)

Weekend recap, a day late and a dollar short, I know. This weekend was super exhausting, because again, we tried to pack too much in. We will never learn. 

Friday started out a bit hectic. We were late for critical mass, and having all kinds of issues with the bike rack on Kyle's car (it scraped up my car last time, so we switched cars). We got there after everyone left, but managed to park in a random spot in Corktown, and we hauled ass to catch up with the group. We were a bit grumpy, but after we got going, we relaxed a bit. The best part is when we rode through Mexicantown, which I haven't really been through in ages. More and more people are moving to the city, and Corktown, Woodbridge, and Midtown seem to be the popular places to move to these days. I am pretty sure that I would want to move to Mexicantown if we moved. It is a big area, there are always people outside, and everything smells good. We passed by so many restaurants, bars, and food trucks, that I was drooling most of the ride. The ride back to downtown was a bit rough though, and Kyle and I were pretty much dead by the time we got back to the car. 

After, we dropped the bikes off at Kyle's brother Chris's place, got cash out, then headed to PJ Larger's house in Corktown to for some beers with our friend Dan. We sat out back, had a few beers, listened to the few bands that were playing, and bullshitted. It was awesome. Then the guys decided to hit up a pop-up food shop next door before we headed home, and they got some Thanksgiving egg rolls that sounded and smelled amazing. 

Saturday I slept in, then headed out to run errands. I did some damage at Target, not even going to lie. Then I went home to get ready for the night. We started out with getting tacos at Imperial in Ferndale with our friends Dan, and Mariah. Then Mariah and I headed out to a club in Royal Oak called Luna for our friend Sara's bachelorette party. As much as I have come to loathe that part of town, I do really like Luna. It reminds me of The Bronze from Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Sometimes there is a live band, other times it is a mix of old school hip hop, indie bands you've never heard of, and Taylor Swift. There is also pool, and cheap drinks. All they need now are some cappuccinos, and fried food, amiright? Anyway, after a bit of drinking, and dancing, my brother-in-law Brian came to pick me up so that we could meet up with Kyle and Dan again. We ended the night with some karaoke, and it was great. 

Sunday, we got up, got some "hangover bagels", then ran some more errands. My dad informed us that a Kmart by us was closing, and everything was on sale, so we decided to check it out. Holy hell did we buy a bunch of crap! A shop vac, some flannel sheets for the bed, food, supplies for our bikes, slippers, cat litter, and some other crap.  We are on a serious shopping ban for a while. 

We then headed home and worked on the yard. I cleared a bunch of weeds out of the front garden, and knocked all of the spider webs off of the house, swept the porch, cut down some tiny weed trees, and basically made it look somewhat normal again. Then I went inside and cleaned the house, before we washed up, killed a pizza, and caught up on Doctor Who and Sleepy Hollow.
