I am slowly but surely catching up on blog posts over here, and I am really happy to share some cute photos from Motor City Comic Con 2015! Liam went as Carl from The Walking Dead again, on account of Chandler Riggs being in attendance this year, everyone loved his cosplay! I went as K-9 from Doctor Who, and no one knew who I was (again). Luckily my friends Ivan and Nick were there, and Nick went as the Fourth Doctor so when I was standing next to him a few people recognized the Tin Dog. We also saw my friends Suze and Joe, and my friend Will.

I didn't take as many pictures as I normally would, because I had to keep an eye on Liam in the HUGE crowd. but we did see some really awesome cosplays, checked out all of the art, bought some cool stuff, and bummed around. Liam did get to take a photo with Chandler Riggs, and basically lost his shit (it was adorable). We ended up having a blast, and I already can't wait until next year. I am so glad that at least one of my family members appreciates my nerdy tendencies, because comic con is soooooo much fun when you have someone to geek out with ;)

Bitch Planet, Image Comics- A futuristic world, where non-compliant females are sent to an off-world penitentiary, commonly known as Bitch Planet. I discovered this comic by way of Joe Keating writing about it in the back of one of the issues of Shutter. Since I am very OCD about reading things in order, and making sure that I have access to said things. I am not going to lie, it took a bit of effort trying to track down that first issue. The fine folks at Comics & More, and Detroit Comics were super helpful though, and even though I eventually had to get that first issue via the interwebz, I was able to pick up both the second and third issues from said locations.  Anyways, a feminist comic about strong, kick-ass women vs, the patriarchy. As I said, a necessary comic, and it is EVERYTHING.

Saturday, we got up early, cleared the living room out, and started to paint. My idea was to paint the top part of the walls white, the bottom yellow, put a chair rail up, and paint the back of the door grey. We basically just made a huge, huge, mess of my living room. We got the first coat on everything, with Kyle having to take an hour to get Louie to the vet for his booster shot, then had to stop to wash up for dinner. We went out to Imperial in Ferndale for tacos for Kyle's Mom's bday, and it was awesome. It had started to rain by the time we were done, so we decided to take them over to M-Brew to play some pinball until the rain died down. Well, it didn't, and Kyle and I had plans with another couple later that evening, so we ran out in the pouring rain to head home. 

Our original plans fell through, so we decided to head home and work on the painting. Then our friends called, so after an hour of trying to touch up the paint, we changed, and headed out for karaoke, beers, and late-night hot dogs. 

Oh, and most importantly, I made my Twitter header all sexy. 

Another busy weekend in the bag, and it looks like several more still ahead. Slow down and you die, correct? 

Friday night we were supposed to take my kid brother Liam to a Ferndale High School football game, mostly to check out the marching band (he plays the trumpet). However, Armageddon decided to happen instead, so we altered our plans and took him out for pizza. My brother Mark joined in, and we ended up dropping Liam off and staying out for a couple of beers. 

Saturday, Kyle and I headed out to run some errands. We Got groceries, pumpkin spice lattes from Biggby, new shoes from Payless (most of Kyle's were ruined in the flood, and I just wanted new shoes), and Kyle got a fancy new haircut! We then headed home so that we could get ready for my cousin Jeremy's wedding, which was really beautiful! Of course, Kyle and I were late, but we had fun seeing everyone. We get to do it all again next month for my cousin Heather's wedding, but then I don't think there are anymore weddings planned after that, so we have to enjoy getting all dressed-up and whatnot while we can. 

On Sunday, we had tentative plans for the renfest, but no one really knew what was going on. We ended up going a bit later on in the day, which worked out pretty well because that meant I had time to clean up the house a bit. We got bagels, caramel apple ciders, packed up beers, and headed out. It was a really beautiful day, and I was happy to hangout with a bunch of our friends again. I also got to meet my favorite doctor! I spotted this guy dressed as the Fourth doctor and bolted after him to get a pic, he was so happy!  We ended the night with pizza, beer, and some Harry Potter with our friend Dan and the pups. 

I cannot wait to get home and take the dogs out for a walk tonight (they have been spoiled rotten hanging out at my parent's house with their dogs all weekend), because it is starting to get cooler at night and it feels like fall! 

Now my 15 minute break is up, and I have to get back to work. fun stuff.

Another day, another fabulous T-shirt! Of course it is another Doctor Who one, of course. Teefury is both the best and the worst thing that has happened to me, RIP my wallet.

Speaking of spending money on things, I finally bought some new jeans! I actually went to the mall too! I normally just hit up thrift stores, or do some shopping damage online. I forgot how awesome the mall can be sometimes, coffee + food + clothes + spending time with a friend = all good things. Anywho, I tried on a million, or seven, different pairs of jeans and ended up defaulting to my usual jean supplier; American Eagle Outfitters. Their jeans are the only ones that fit my round arse nicely, I hope they never go out of business because I fully intend to be the 80 year old lady shopping in a store marketed for teenagers to get the perfect pair of jeans. I set high goals for myself, obviously.

Two outfit posts in a row, woot woot! Whenever I wear a lot of blue, I sort-of wish that I could have Summer Fin's wardrobe. I sometimes wonder what it would be like to wear a "signature" color like that, a whole wardrobe of various shades of blue and whatnot. But then again I am a Libra, and therefore waaayyy too indecisive to limit myself to one color. Matching is still a difficult feat for me, but not on this particular day! Even my TARDIS mug matched my outfit! It was stylin' with the little scarf-cozy my friend Stevie made for me. And if that is not enough geek for you, I added a Tom Baker pin for good measure. Because it is always fun explaining to people who the old guy's face is on your shirt on a daily basis: That is Tom Baker, aka Lord Creep. 

Speaking of creep, there is my car, Tony Spark, in the back! I had to give my Dad a lift to work today, and it was his first time in my car. My dad, the man my siblings and cousins all refer to as "Sasquatch" , trying to cram into my tiny ass car was the highlight of my day-the look on his face when I pulled up, hilarity!

The good thing about all of this pressure, is that is prompts me to discuss it with people who are/have been in the same position as me. Here is what I am typically faced with: If I had kids earlier in life, I would have been irresponsible. If I wait, I will be too old to connect with them. If I have one kid, they will be weird.If I have lots of kids, they won't get enough attention. If I keep working after having a kid, then I am not spending enough time with them. If I quit my job to take care of my kids, then I wasted my degree/I am not providing enough income for them. It. Never. Ends.

Then of course there is the whole "what if I just don't want kids?" life, because honestly, I don't really know. There is a lot of controversy over that one, mostly the argument over the fact that it could be considered selfish. I sometimes consider this because there are so many things that I still want to do with my life, that I am not sure if carting around a kid would work. Then again I have friends who do just that, and they are amazing, but then they get a lot of flack because people consider it "irresponsible". It really never ends.
