Little Bits: Sweet November
9:52 AM
Kyle and I decided to watch “Sweet November” last night, because we apparently hate ourselves. I love that movie, it is so sappy. Kyle could not refrain himself from saying “aww!” every ten minutes, why do we do this to ourselves?!
Anyway, as much as I love the refreshingly cool days of September after the heat of summer, and all of the hauntings, and fall festivities of October, I still have a soft-spot for November. The poor month always gets lost in the shuffle between Halloween and Christmas, Thanksgiving is probably the only acknowledgment it gets. I however refuse to let November become the red-headed step-child! I will celebrate this month by watching yet another November movie: “Pieces of April” (in which I actually like Katie Holms in something), I will watch the Detroit parade on TV Thanksgiving morning, and I will learn to cook a turkey (I get a free one from work, so why not?). Given the actual history of what Thanksgiving is supposed to be, I never really liked to celebrate. Now however, I look at the holiday in the more modern way it is regarded: to simple give thanks. I love seeing all of my family and Kyle’s family, and eating a giant meal that my Mom took extra care to make for us. And seriously, who doesn’t love turkey and pie? November is cool!
1) Awesome salt & pepper shakers at Mae's. 2) Louie, being adorable. 3) The Bodiatrist in action. 4) I voted! 4) My cats, plotting to take over the world.

I love "Pieces of April"! Such a great underrated movie.
ReplyDeleteCooking a turkey isn't too hard. My best advice make sure it's completely thawed out. I have been successful in the past but last year it was a complete disaster because part of it was still frozen and I didn't realize. Half was overdone and half was raw.
November is my favorite month - though I may be biased because I have a birthday in a couple of weeks!
ReplyDeleteMy roommates and I managed to cook a turkey in college once, if we could do it, I'm sure you can!!
I love November, too -- for the same reason as Beth. Glad to see you celebrate it.
ReplyDeleteHAHA! I agree about November! It does get lost in the shuffle. I can't wait for Turkey Day and the Macy's Parade. Can't wait to hear about your first experience baking a Turkey! Ohhhh what fun! LOL

I so love Pieces of April! Its the only film Katie ever did that I actually enjoyed
ReplyDeleteIS Sweet November that one with Charlize Theoren?
ReplyDeleteMy cats love the bathtub too! November is a good month, I agree!
ReplyDeleteMy recommendation? Skip cooking a turkey and invest in cornish hens (they're like mini turkeys that you can serve individually); or buy turkey pieces which cook super fast. Of course, then you don't get to 'carve' anything, so... :/
ReplyDeleteI honestly have not seen that movie. I'll add that to my watch list.
ReplyDeleteTalk nerdy to me.
