Little Bits: Fat & Happy
10:56 AM
This weekend was going to be the weekend where we had NO plans, of course that backfired completely. Instead, we basically painted, and ate. And ate, and ate, and ate.
Friday after work, we started our weekend off by getting our basic bitch pumpkin spice lattes. We then dropped off the dogs at my parent's house, and headed over to Kyle's grandma's place for her 95th birthday party. We feasted on pizza, salad, fried chicken, cake, and ice cream. Then we were sent home with leftovers after helping clean up. It was fun to see some of Kyle's family that I normally don't get to see, and I adore his grandma, she cracks me up. After, we decided to grab a beer, just the two of us, and ended up at M-Brew in Ferndale. We had two drinks each, played some pinball (mostly the Lord of the Rings one, because it is the best one), saw some old high school friends, and managed to get the juke box stuck on the cantina band song from Star Wars before calling it a night.
Saturday, we got up early, cleared the living room out, and started to paint. My idea was to paint the top part of the walls white, the bottom yellow, put a chair rail up, and paint the back of the door grey. We basically just made a huge, huge, mess of my living room. We got the first coat on everything, with Kyle having to take an hour to get Louie to the vet for his booster shot, then had to stop to wash up for dinner. We went out to Imperial in Ferndale for tacos for Kyle's Mom's bday, and it was awesome. It had started to rain by the time we were done, so we decided to take them over to M-Brew to play some pinball until the rain died down. Well, it didn't, and Kyle and I had plans with another couple later that evening, so we ran out in the pouring rain to head home.
Our original plans fell through, so we decided to head home and work on the painting. Then our friends called, so after an hour of trying to touch up the paint, we changed, and headed out for karaoke, beers, and late-night hot dogs.
Oh, and most importantly, I made my Twitter header all sexy.
Sunday, we slept in, had toast with apple butter, and coffee. Then, we decided that we needed more coffee, and went to Biggby for pumpkin spice lattes (as of right now, I have had 11 of them. Judge all you want), and to Tim Horton's for doughnuts (second breakfast!). We then, wait for it, painted some more. Eventually my dad headed over, as he was supposed to take us to Home Depot for the material for the chair rail, but we had found some wood that we originally bought for crown molding that didn't work out, so he took that home to cut up for us. Kyle left to go to Costco for things, and I was left to paint some more.
I thought I had bought the same shade yellow as the one we used in the hallway, but it was me doing things, so of course I screwed it up. I ended up buying a shade lighter, and didn't notice until I covered most of the walls. Kyle said that he couldn't notice a difference between the two shades, but still. The OCD monster in me will probably repaint the hallway now *sobbing*. Also, upon seeing the new, clean walls, we realized that the baseboards, and window sills are gross, so I will have to repaint those. Needless to say, we should be finished with that room in about 6 months. That, and Kyle isn't allowed to help paint ever again.
We ended the night with catching up on New Girl, and Doctor Who, and food. It is a good thing that I never made it to the grocery store, I think a two week fast would be good for us at this point. It is a good thing that we are going to the Tigers game with Kyle's coworkers and some friends after work, no tasty food to tempt us there.
Happy Monday!

ReplyDeletePainting is one of my least favorite home improvement projects to do. And I feel your pain about the colors not matching perfectly. Although I bet they still complement each other!

Ahaha a weekend full of food sounds good to me. Eh I hate taking on endeavors like that, but sometimes its necessary to be domestic. Plus the light yellow sounds great, thats always been my favorite color for walls because I think its just cheerful enough without being annoying.
