Wedding Shower
9:12 AM
Whew this weekend flew by! We finally have one major wedding activity accomplished; our wedding shower was this past Saturday. Of course Kyle and I were a little behind on setting things up, and thankfully we had friends and family to help us out. It was a little awkward in the beginning because of this, but as always, once the food was ready everyone was chatting and drinking and having a gay ol’ time.
Kyle and I weren’t sure if we wanted a shower at first, but my mom insisted and it was fun to see everyone who was able to make it. We made sure to stick with our wedding colors, purple & orange, with the table clothes and the plates and napkins. I made heart-shaped confetti from an old book and sprinkled it all over the tables, and used some soup cans as flower vases, filled with wild flowers. I don’t know where I saw it (pinterest, or a blog maybe?) but Kyle and I pinned a bunch of photos on an old bike tire and framed one of our engagement photos. I made sure to have some upbeat music going, and my parents took care of all of the food. We kept it laid-back with burgers, veggie burgers, hotdogs, chips, taco-salad and tomato-basil salad. My mom made cookies and a confetti cake, and my dad went all Martha-Stewart and made a fruit salad basket out of a watermelon.
Our shower was a little unconventional because we invited both guys and little kids, but once the burgers were done and the beers were opened, everyone had fun. Kyle and I even awkwardly opened all of our awesome gifts in front of everyone, my kitchen is totally pimped out now guys, and we loved ALL of them! I have lots of movies & TV shows to watch, and expect to see some more food posts on this blog.
After the shower, we ended up bar-hoping a bit in Ferndale and stayed out WAY too late singing karaoke, drinking, running into old friends at the hotdog cart, and trying to get everyone home safe. From now until the bachelor/bachelorette parties, we will be hermits, working on the last of the projects, and figuring out the last of the details. EXCITEMENT.
Thanks to Becky for the photos!
