I am slowly but surely catching up on blog posts over here, and I am really happy to share some cute photos from Motor City Comic Con 2015! Liam went as Carl from The Walking Dead again, on account of Chandler Riggs being in attendance this year, everyone loved his cosplay! I went as K-9 from Doctor Who, and no one knew who I was (again). Luckily my friends Ivan and Nick were there, and Nick went as the Fourth Doctor so when I was standing next to him a few people recognized the Tin Dog. We also saw my friends Suze and Joe, and my friend Will.

I didn't take as many pictures as I normally would, because I had to keep an eye on Liam in the HUGE crowd. but we did see some really awesome cosplays, checked out all of the art, bought some cool stuff, and bummed around. Liam did get to take a photo with Chandler Riggs, and basically lost his shit (it was adorable). We ended up having a blast, and I already can't wait until next year. I am so glad that at least one of my family members appreciates my nerdy tendencies, because comic con is soooooo much fun when you have someone to geek out with ;)

On October 31st, 2014, my lovely cousin and her fiance got married! They decided to keep things casual by going to the court house, but asked me to take some photos anyway. I am so glad that they asked me, because I jump at any opportunity to use my camera. Also, with outfits as cool as these? They MUST be documented! Helllooooo unicorn horn!

Unfortunately, it was drizzling all day. I was lucky enough to only work a half day on Halloween, and was able to meet them at the Detroit Institute of Arts (thanks to my brother in-law Chris for the suggestion!) to take some indoor shots. Because the DIA is an art museum, I was unable to use my flash (but using the flash is lame as pants anyway), so we had to take pics in the few bright areas available. Which also meant that Les & Jake had to hold super still during all of the shots. A lot of them came out blurry in the end, but, with the help of my amazing in-laws Michelle & Chris Gerard, they were able to edit them all nice for me. 

I don't know why most of my instagrams from this weekend are black and white, probably to hide my gross hair. Seriously, I have THE WORST hair. It curls all weird when I try to blow dry it straight, and comes undone when I try to curl it. Someone make a sacrifice to the hair-gods already.

Anyway, this weekend started out pretty relaxing, but then became busier because it is almost the end of summer, and we have to squeeze in ALL of the things. Friday I came home and cleaned the house a bit, heated up leftovers, and then went for a long walk with Kyle. We came home and wanted to watch Shameless, but Comcast decided to take the fourth season off, you know, the season we were in the middle of, the LAST bloody season before the new one starts. Assholes. Anyway, we decided to watch Puss in Boots, because it was free and we are five years old. It was really cute! I recommend it to all of the cat ladies and cat men out there.

Saturday we headed down to Eastern Market like we normally do, and our friend Becky met up with us. It was awesome to see her for a bit, and to grab food from the food trucks for lunch. Two words: Shawarma Kayrouz. Okay, only the people from the Detroit area might get that, but still. Anyway, after that we headed to Meijer to get the rest of our groceries and return pop/beer bottles, like boring adults do.

After putting away the groceries, and getting some chores done, we washed up and headed out to my aunt Terri's to help set up for her wedding celebration. It was fun to see my cousins again, and we completely dorked out for a few hours, it was awesome. We came home later in the evening and had a little fire in the backyard, and Liam stayed the night.

Sunday we got up early (well, early for us on a Sunday) and took Liam to get bagels at our favorite bagel place in Ferndale, New York Bagel. Yes, it is called New York Bagel, in Michigan (whatever, the bagels are the shit). We dropped Liam off, got some caffeine, and headed to Costco, and the pet store. I am very proud to say that Kyle and I managed to stick to our shopping lists and budget all week/weekend. It is so tempting to just get take-out when you are tired of cooking, but thankfully I am great at making four times the amount of food meant for two people, so we always have leftovers.

We then came home, and I am not sure what happened, but Kyle and I suddenly became very productive and Kyle cleaned out the garage and worked on the yard, while I attacked the kitchen and laundry. I made LOADS of food, so there will be lots of foodie posts in the next few weeks. Food, its whats for food.

Another busy summer weekend in the bank! Friday we had some of Kyle's family over, as well as my parents and two of my brothers. We had a little cookout in the backyard, and a fire in the firepit. Which actually resulted in us cooking most of the food over the fire, because the grill stopped working (aka Kyle broke it). It was still a lot of fun, and it was good to see some of the kids. Some of our friends stopped by for a bit as well, and we ended up staying awake around the fire until about 4 am. I can't believe that my old ass stayed up that late, I am known for chronically crashing out early (like 80 year old people do). 

Saturday we slept in pretty late, then washed up and headed to my cousin Nicole's graduation party. It was very hot, but it was awesome to see some of my family. After, we headed over to see our friend Aaron's new place in Grosse Point Park (sooo fancy!). Sadly, this was cut short as we had to meet up with my brother in Ferndale, and a few more of our friends showed up for yet another late night. 

Sunday we finally got around to cleaning up the yard after the party, and then sat on our butts catching up on "Shameless" for a few hours. We did pause to take Louie for a walk and get ice cream, but that was about it. I am pretty sure that we will be eating leftovers all week though! I have taco salad packed for lunch for the next two days, fruit salad to go with, and I froze a bunch of cooked burgers and hot dogs (we are fatties, but there's only the two of us). 

I have another packed weekend coming up, so we are going to try to take it easy this week. I say "try" because that never seems to happen. Anyway, enjoy the only pictures I managed to take over the weekend :)
