Eats: Crock Pot Apple Butter

10:58 AM

More fall eats, guys! EXCITE.

One time, we bought apple butter from the store and it was super gross. Another time, we bought it from the cider mill and it was amazeballs. So, that being said, I decided to make my own, on account of buying waaaay too many apples the other week. Also, I made this in the crock pot and it was super easy, and made the house smell yummy and not like dog butt for once.

6 apples, chopped (I used Gala apples)
1 teaspoon lemon juice
1 tablespoon cinnamon
1/4 cup water
1/4 cup sugar
1/4 cup brown sugar

Core the apples, and give them a rough chop. Place them in the slow cooker Add cinnamon, water, and both sugars, and stir it up. Put the lid on the crock pot, then let it slow cook on high for about 2 1/2 hours. Check on it periodically, and you can add a little bit of water if need be. Remove after time is up, and place in a blender, adding the lemon juice. Puree until smooth. If the apple butter looks a little too light (like apple sauce), just put it back in the crock pot for another hour or so, uncovered until it darkens.

Super easy, and YUMMY. We have been putting it on toast, but it also good with peanut butter sandwiches.

Happy eats!
