Inspiration, Musings, & Projects

Monday, Monday, Monday, what's wrong with you? Actually, I look forward to Mondays. I like the structure, and organization after a crazy, jam-packed weekend. I will just chalk it up to getting older and all of that nonsense.
Anyway, how about a little life update?
Planning: I am finding that I am less of a basket case if I plan most things ahead of time. It sounds very boring, but it is the only way to prevent myself from becoming overwhelmed. I usually take time Sunday night/Monday morning to plan out my week: what day to clean what room, when I am going to the grocery store, etc. I also am getting better at planning out friend-time, even when those plans fall-through. We had originally decided on heading downtown to ice-skate and grab an earlier dinner on Saturday, but after someone's car broke down, our plans had altered. We still ended up having a good time out with friends, and Kyle and I even had some time together on Sunday. I didn't get everything done that I wanted to do over the weekend, but this weekend we are planning on less craziness, and more chores so hopefully it will even out in the end.
Health: I am still doing Insanity, and although it is still kicking my ass, I love it. I have been eating a lot better the past two weeks (December was full of holiday goodness), and I have started to notice more physical changes in my appearance, even if they are very small. I hadn't had a haircut since July (other than having Kyle cut the back of it over the sink), so I finally went in and had a proper trim. Tip: If you are growing your hair out, get regular trims. Your awkward, in-between hair does not have to be as fugly as mine was.
I am also in the process of weeding out hair and makeup products that are not helpful to myself. Ex: I need products for fine hair, makeup for my oily skin, etc. Most people have the common sense to figure this out when they are teenagers, but nope, not me!
Projects: I have decided to not start any new projects until I have finished the ones I have started. I am itching to work on our office, it needs some major re-organizing, as well as decorating, but I have a bathroom that needs spackling and I already have the supplies to do that. My sanity and my wallet will thank me for this later.
Family time: I already mentioned that I have been trying to spend more time alone with Kyle, but it is really exciting to me. This mostly resulted from Kyle having a break from school, but we are also making it more of a priority. Most of the time we just go out for dinner/get take-out and watch movies/TV with each other, which is really perfection for us, but we have been trying to change it up. More walks with Louie, leaving the house to see movies, and last night we went and saw a friend perform at a local tea house. Even browsing the clearance racks at Target was fun for us this weekend, because we never go to the store together anymore. Really lame? Of course, but on both accounts. But extra time with these two (and our other furry bastards), is never a bad thing.

Good luck with Insanity - I've done it before (Well, if you count the 8 days I did it), its SUCH a good workout but sometimes I'm not motivated enough for it, it's definitely rough. As for the makeup stuff, I'm still trying to figure it all out too lol, I think discovering the right products is a lifelong battle.

Nice peek through the window into your life.
ReplyDeleteOoh Lord, Idk that I could do Insanity, but I am trying to do better myself! I'm thinking about creating a to-do list for everyday that I follow so I do everything I want to do and feel more productive throughout the day, haha.
ReplyDeleteI am SUCH a planner and it's been hard for me to give that up a bit with a baby - it's kind of his schedule, not mine. Anyway, I like seeing all the things you're up to!
ReplyDeleteTotally channelling you in this post. Ditto to all of the planning ahead benefits. And also hail to the tiny pigtails! My hair just got long enough for them too. :)
ReplyDeleteI take long breaks about getting haircuts too..and yes, I cut the back of hair sometimes too..and its not bad for about 3 days..and then..well..I should get more haircuts, but something about winter, I don't like going out..unless I have too. Argh..about all those chores. Sounds like you have a plan in motion~
ReplyDeleteIts great that you guys take walks with Louie together. It is hard to keep that balance going through the winter months.
ReplyDeleteThat top picture is so stinkin' cute!! Props to you for doing insanity! I'm doing a 30 day beachbody challenge and some nights I feel like I might die. This was a great post!

I'm taking a break from running...Insanity sounds like fun!
ReplyDeleteI have plenty of old photos of me with fugly growing out hair. It's a right of passage. :) Hearing that you're doing Insanity makes me want to go bake some cupcakes. At least you're enjoy it!
ReplyDeleteAll sounds perfect to me. I wish I would finish all my old projects before starting new ones! I am silly like that.

I always wanted to do Insanity but I think Jillan Micheals 30 day shred is ok. I'm with you with planning out things.
ReplyDeleteI like reading your alittle life updates!
I LOVE that you and Kyle are spending more time together - and that you find so much pleasure in the simple things. It's adorbs!
ReplyDeleteAlso pertinent...planning is my lifesaver. I would accomplish nothing without!!
xx
When we meet the universe will implode I bet. Seriously. We are THE same in so many ways. I've been trying to stay organised too. And live slowly... clean up after myself straight away, only go to one event in an evening (yes I've been guilty of squeezing three events/friend dates into one day! wtf?) and finish what I start.
ReplyDeleteSo good that you and Kyle are getting quality time in, that's the most important thing.. to look after those that look after us. I'm slowly learning where to put my time :) Also, I still don't have a regular shampoo, face wash or foundation that seems perfect so YOU ARE NOT ALONE.
Love you long time x

i think doing mundane things like shopping at target with your husband is fun, and not lame at all!
ReplyDeleteThe Facebook message I just sent you will help with your oily skin, definitely! ;)
ReplyDeleteI love your haircut. I actually sadly have to cut my hair because the bleach didn't upset my head at first, but months later I am dealing with its effects of falling out. My once extremely thick head of hair is now less than half of its thickness. I want it healthy again. My tip for healthy hair is to actually massage your scalp regularly so that the dead skin cells and dirt can work more, and also if you don't shampoo as often (maybe twice a week only, so if you shower daily, you can do so, just don't shampoo every time). That is how I was able to grow 37" long hair. other tip: never bleach your hair. . .but you know this since you've told me you had issues when you bleached yours.
I truly believe alone time with one's spouse is so so worth it! I love that you have been doing that together more!!
Talk nerdy to me.
