Some Plans & Whatnot
8:51 AM
Yay, more engagement photos! There are so many awesome ones you guys, I am having a hard time trying to pick a few to print and frame. Oh and Michelle and Chris included a few of Louie and of our kitchen (while they were waiting for our slow asses to hurry up) so yeah, Louie bonus!
I have been asked several times what our plans are after the wedding, and for once it is nice to be able to think about it. Since about 2009, I have been working full-time, and have been going to school full-time. I graduated at the end of 2011 with my bachelors in English, and have been doing nothing but wedding planning and catching up with friends and family since then. Now that the wedding is a mere two months away, I am starting to really piece together a few plans.
As far as work goes, I would like to do something different, if not find a job that pertains to my degree/interests a little more. I did apply for an assistant position in the AP department a month ago, and my work is very slow at filling positions… however, about ten other people applied for the same position so I am not holding my breath. I would honestly love to get a job at Oakland University where I graduated from, maybe just a clerical position like I have now. Basically, I am going to be keeping an eye out.
I also want to write. I have been keeping a notebook with me to write down all of my ideas and I have so many! I want to be a writer more than anything, just to have something I honestly love and worked hard on be published, even if I have to do it myself, is my ultimate goal. Kyle even offered for me to go down to part-time to work on writing more (if I stay with my current job). It is not something we can entirely afford to do right now, but it is nice to know that could be an option.
Kyle and I also have about a million house projects that we really want to get started on. I think the goal is going to be to tackle one room at a time, which is fine because Kyle will be going back to school in the fall and I will be left to do a lot of damage on my own, muwahahaha! My priority will be to focus on writing, but I do plan on getting the house to look and feel more “us”. That and we are tired of looking at brown walls (Seriously, who paints walls the color of poop?).
As for the honeymoon? We are going to take a week off after the wedding to rest but like I said, Kyle will be in school so we are going to plan a trip for next spring. We still have not picked a destination, but we will start planning that after the fall semester.
Babies? Yeah don’t plan on seeing any for a while. I am still not even sure if I want to have kids, I have always wanted to adopt if I were going to have a kid, but that is an entire other post that I will have to get to. We have too many things that we want/need to do with our lives and taking care of three pets is a lot of work, let alone a human being.
So yep, there you are, caught up with our “Life after Marriage” plans. I am pretty excited to share them all with you as they come along.

ReplyDeleteSecond...hooray for after-wedding plans. I am keeping my fingers crossed for you regarding your application - you deserve that job! :)

ReplyDeleteI love your pictures! You guys are so adorable - and so is your dog! And I've been married six years and am still on the "one day at a time" plan as far as kids or anything else goes. And there is nothing wrong with that at all!!
ReplyDeleteawww! I love it! And life after marriage, the babies part make me chuckle haha. I was actually imagining ur family potrait you , kyle & your pets!! All the best in being a writer! i'm sure that will happen!!!NOW im excited for the wedding photos hahah :p xxx
ReplyDeleteI love your photos..but OMG That picture of Louie needs to be hanging somewhere. I LOVE IT!
ReplyDeleteAll the best to your goals. I hope you find the job you want. Just start writing on these ideas. I know you can do it!
You guys are so lovely! Such beautiful pictures.
ReplyDeleteIn love with Louie too.
All the best on the job hunt and creativity.
I hope all goes well with the wedding.
1) The photos are so cute!
ReplyDelete2) What kind of stuff do you write or want to write? I write too. Mostly journaling and some bad poetry, but I really want to get into fiction.
3) I hate the after the wedding questions. Luckily, I don't get asked it much. The people who tend to ask are the settling down types and I don't have many friends who fit that mold. Most of my people want to be jet setters rather than parents.
Right now I freelance, but I'd love to work at a non-profit. (You know, if my goals of taking over the world with my books don't happen.)
ReplyDeleteaww. I also want to know what you want to write? I wrote a book that took me 5 years to write (mainly because I have dyslexia and have to constantly reread it and fix my reversed sentences and words) but it costs so much to publish an actual book and you need an agent and it is rough to find a publisher, and the fact that I need to find a Christian publication for the book I wrote. . rougher, since there aren't too many at all in comparison to non-Christian publications. I would love to read your book(s) when you complete your writing and publish them!!! You know I'm a reader. ;) Hooray!!!
ReplyDeleteI am so excited for you two as you enter into the marriage journey for your lives!!! This is so exciting. Enjoy married life for a couple years before thinking about additional family members. Take your time! You know I love your heart for wanting to adopt one day.
I could look at these pictures all day. They are so gorgeous. Frame them all!!!! haha
Much love,
Victoria

I am officially caught up now! I think it's a good idea for you to cut down to part-time so you can work on your writing. I graduated 4 years ago, so I can give you some advice based on my experience. Take the time to do what you love. Working part-time seems to be the best way to do that.
