Mitten Eats: Grand Trunk/Forans Irish Pub8:52 PM
So it's Friday night and I am supposed to be exhausted from a strenuous run and munching on something healthy but instead my lazy butt is parked in front of the TV watching, you guessed it, Gilmore Girls and eating pizza. After the long week of very long workdays I've had, I don't feel too bad about having a lazy night.
Occasionally, Kyle and I have lazy Saturdays with friend and we head to Detroit to one of our favorite places: Grand Trunk/Foran's Irish Pub. We head down early for half-off pints and some delicious food, and sit around chatting or playing Apples to Apples for hours.
My brother Mark swears that the Rubens are the best around, and we're Polish. Other then tonight, I try to be healthy. I ordered a quiche and fruit and they made me a swan out of apples! Bloody fancy huh?
Although there are no pool tables or jukeboxes, the place itself is pretty snazzy. It used to be the old Grand Trunk railroad ticket station, and there are cathedral ceilings and old signs on the walls. Although technically a pub, it is not uncommon to see a small child accompanied by parents, parked at the bar. Especially when it is very typical for The Muppets or Danger Mouse to be shown on Saturdays.
It's also fun to take pictures of people eating, muwhahaha!
