Monster Mash
9:11 PM
This is an outfit my Mother would despise. Not only am I sporting the very bag that caused my Mother to remind me that white was banned after labor day, and it is January, but I am also wearing both black and brown accessories. The horror! However, this was an outfit thrown together out of much confusion. I wanted to be cozy so I put on my favorite sweatshirt, scarf and jeans, but I felt too frumpy. Then I added the boots and coat and felt way too trendy. What is a girl to do? Wear a monster hat, duh.
Today has been one of the most relaxing and productive days in a long time. I got up early to make muffins, (which came out horrible-but I will try again soon!) and Kyle and I took Louie for a walk around Oak Park since it was so nice out. We washed up and headed out to Ferndale to check out pinwheel bakery, where I got a delicious cup of coffee and a vegan molasses cookie that was incredible. We were supposed to help our friend Dan move some things to his new apartment, but he met us at the Rustbelt instead and we checked out some cool artsy stuff. The Rustbelt is basically like an open market for local artists to sell their merchandise. I seriously wanted so many things, cool photos of Detroit, vintage dresses...cat pillows. We then headed to The Emory and I had a veggie sandwich and soup and it was delicious! I have gone in there for a drink once or twice but had never eaten there. We then decided to go thrifting and Kyle finally bought some new (to him) nice clothes and I bought some fabric, which I hope to use this month. We came home, I gave Kyle a haircut and we cooked a veggie pasta for dinner.
Now we are all cozy, watching the Lions game with Louie. Kyle is sipping a beer and I am in love with this honey-cherry mead I bought from Western Market in Ferndale today. Seriously, they have a wine expert on staff who always guides me to the weird things to try because he knows I know nothing about wine. It is made in Michigan, with ingredients from Michigan, and it is really good. I am not a wine person at all, and I am in love with it. It's called "Psenkova Cherry Mead", and I want to marry it.
