Meet the Parents
5:22 PM
I mentioned that I had a few special posts up my sleeve for this blog after finals and here is one of them! I have here a few photos of my parents Craig & Judi, on their wedding day. Say it with me: "Holy Eighties!" yep, but my parents look super cute and happy all spiffed up for their big day. I really like this pic of my Mom because the length of her dress is about the same as mine, and mine has sleeves too. This dress was used to the max too because my Mom hemmed it for me to dress as an angel in a Christmas pageant and my Dad added giant wings to it.
See that bouquet of flowers below? My Dad was really sweet and tried to press them in the wedding album. I say tried because they look like a big pile of brownish blob now, but the effort still counts right?
My parents had a simple wedding as you can see here. I wanted mine to be simple too, but I also want to include everyone. A lot of weddings these days are super huge, partially because of huge families and lots of friends as in our case. I really want kids to be there, I love all of my little cousins and I remember really liking weddings when I was a kid. I am hoping to keep the simplicity of my parents wedding, with the inclusion of all the people I want to invite, the impossible, I know, but hey I like challenge.
And to think that these two would produce four offspring that would later refer to them as "Sasquatch" & "Swamp-woman".

I love your Mom's dress. I recently went to my cousins wedding. It was at a resort. So expensive.
ReplyDeleteThere are so many ways to do a wedding these days, and I'm sure with the help of friends and family..can cut lots of cost.
Like my parents they married in the 80's too..and their wedding was at 2 in the afternoon..just with a few college friends and cake and punch.
It seems these days, all these expectations of a big upscale dinner, open bar and then a dance..are way too much.
You must be so excited about your wedding!
I'm glad your parents wedding is giving you inspiration.

This is a adorable. I love looking at old wedding photos. Your parents look so happy in the last photo. I agree, smaller weddings are so much more intimate and less stressful (trust me.) :)

ReplyDeleteAlso, the jeans in your last post look great on you even they are feeling a bit tight haha
ReplyDeleteIt sounds like you've had some nice time off. Sometimes the most relaxing thing to do is to catch up on all the projects you've postponed and then enjoy a nice and tasty beer at the end of the night (that blond raspberry brew sounds delish!)
I'm not sure if my comment went through the first time. Your mom and dad are so cute and her dress is gorgeous. Good luck planning a wedding that incorporates everything you value. I'm sure it will be amazing. So cool you were an angel in your mom's wedding dress!
ReplyDeleteThis is seriously such a cute post! I love old photos. I just wish my rents took more photos when they were younger.
