Pictured Rocks
8:04 PM
This post was so hard to do because there were soooo many beautiful pictures of the Pictured Rocks, located in Munising Michigan. I gladly handed the camera over to Kyle as he is the better photographer and he took some amazing photos. Now you guys can see how we manged to get over 1,000 photos on this vacation, haha. The Pictured Rocks are an amazing sight, they are basically these giant walls made up of different layers of rock, lining the shore of Lake Superior. Exposure to the elements reveals the inner layers of rock that create beautiful patterns and colors along the shoreline. The boat tour is the best way to get a good view of the rocks, but Kyle and I would like to try kayaking sometime. Our tour guide told us that people see many different images in the pictured rocks, from all of the crazy designs made by the different elements. I did not make out any pictures, but it is safe to say that the sight was amazing. The beautiful rocks and the bright yet clear water is something I will never forget.
Whew! It feels like I just came back from this vacation and life is already insane again! Saturday, Kyle and I had our housewarming party, and I managed to take only one picture before I was swamped with stuff to do. Seriously, I had to get the house super-clean because Kyle's niece is allergic to cat & dog hair & grass, so I had to make sure the place was safe for her. I also made pasta salad, goulash & cookies and my Mom & best friend Jamie made up all the burgers for us. Kyle grilled all day and a lot of his family showed up and it was hot. My fellow Oak Park bloggers Tiffany & Brittney showed up to say hi and then around 6pm, the storm came in. A power line came down and was burning in the park across the street, a tree fell on my neighbor's house, it was insane. Luckily we are far enough in Oak Park that we are on their power grid and not Ferndale's, because Ferndale lost power. We did lose our cable and that is why I have not been able to post the past few days, and why I am currently sitting in the Cafe O'Bears at Oakland, stealing internet and waiting for Kyle. Hopefully Comcast came today like they promised (ha!) and we will be back online when I get home. Until then, I hope you guys enjoyed all of the amazing pictures in this post!

ReplyDeleteWe left Oak Park right after we left you, so we didn't get to witness the storm (we got a taste of it over my aunt's house). We unfortunately lost power that night & just got it back today at around 3PM. :( Everyone across the street & beyond had power though. We were totally jealous.
