Best Of 2014!
10:33 AM
It's that time of year when all of the bloggers make giant posts of other things that we posted about earlier in the year, but there is a small chance that you *might* have missed something interesting! I even have two sets of outfit photos that I need to edit, as well as photos from an event a few weeks ago, but, procrastination! 2014 had its ups and downs, but, I think it deserves a send off. So here goes:
January
January was kind of a boring month. I FINALLY bought an iPhone, so that was cool. I also took Louie down to the Tiger Stadium Dog Party for the very first time! I froze my ass off, but Louie loved it. I ended up taking him 4-5 times again over the last few months. Sadly, there are plans for development where the dog party took place, so it looks like I will have to visit the dog parks again. Still, some great memories were had, and Louie loved it.
February
February on the other hand, was quite eventful! Kyle and I went on the Weezer cruise to the Bahamas. Not only did we sail away to basically paradise, we met some amazing people, saw some awesome bands, got to experience a private beach concert with Cat Power, and Weezer. We also hung out with Pat on the deck of the ship, drank more booze than I ever thought imaginable, and really let loose for the first time in a very long time. Even though it sounds like it was Spring Break for Dorks (it was), there were some romantic parts too. I can't wait until they announce the next one! In the meantime, Kyle and I have new friends to visit in Canada, New York, and Australia.
March
In March, we decided to take a weekend trip to Chicago, despite our wallet's protest. It was FREEZING cold, but we had so much fun. I managed to drag the guys with me to check out Jackson Park, because I had just finished reading "Devil in the White City". We also spent time downtown, visiting with our friend Jessie, drinking in Wrigglyville, and shopping in Wicker Park. I have been to Chicago so many times, but I am hoping that we get to go back this year with my friend Mariah.
We also had one of the longest, coldest, snowiest winters that I can remember, We actually broke a record for how much snowfall occurred. Aaaand of course this year, we had a green Christmas. Michigan, you're crazy.
April
April was a great productivity month for me. I re-organized our bathroom, giving it a small makeover. I also got into making a lot of my own cleaning and beauty products. My favorite? My Whipped Body Lotion. I actually just picked up some more African shea butter to make more for the winter. We became a lot better with our finances starting this month, and I froze my butt off at the farmers market each Saturday, buying cheap, local produce to make giant batches of soup to eat each week. It was really the perfect start to Spring.
May
In May, I had the privilege of taking both Kyle, and Liam to Motor City Comic Con! It was their first con (my second), and we had a blast! Liam went as Carl, from the Walking Dead, and everyone knew who he was! I went as Moss from the IT Crowd, not a lot of people knew who I was. It was INSANELY crowded, and we did not make it to any of the panels, but I am trying to convince Kyle to go again, and I want to go all three days! Muwhahahahaha!
June
In June, we took our projects outside and built a firepit! We spent many weeknights, and weekends burning wood in the yard, with cold cans of cheap beer in our hands. One of the simpler ways to spend the summer, but still a favorite!
We also spent a weekend seeing the old Federal Reserve, Chase, and Quicken Loans buildings on an architectural tour in Detroit, followed by a day of bumming around Ypsilanti. I honestly think that those weekends are the best weekends, just exploring your own backyard (yes, I know that I sound like a cheeseball, whatever).

July
In July, I spent a weekend in Tawas with my cousins Hayley, and Leslie. I am sure that I have driven through Tawas a million times in my life, but exploring it was a lot of fun. I need more weekends like this, checking out small towns, they are THE BEST.
We also went camping and had an amazing time, and I also had one of the best Fourth of July's ever! But one of the biggest highlights of July was finding out which house in Detroit used to be the one my Busia (Great Grandmother) lived in. We found it, and even dragged my brother and sister in-law with us to take pics. I still hope to see the inside of the house one day, it is a duplex now, so maybe it will go up for rent one day and I can sneak a peak.

August
August was a life changing month, we adopted our puppy Joseph from our friend Thom who had rescued him in Detroit. Thom had gotten all of Joe's shots, got him fixed, and had a microchip put in him. All he needed was a forever home, and we took him in. We fell in love with this little monster puppy in a matter of days, and even though training him has been a little rough, I can't imagine life without this little bastard. Currently, he is snuggling in the middle of our bed, working the cute as hard as possible.
I was also featured in the "All Dolled Up" section of the Metro Times! I honestly was so geeked when I saw myself both online, and in print. I have never felt so cool, and I enjoyed my 15 minutes of fame.

September
In September, we took a trip down to Sandusky, Ohio to Cedar Point! We hadn't been in years, and it was one of our favorite things to do as teenagers. It was so much fun reliving a part of our youth, even if we felt old as hell from getting beat up by the roller coasters.
I also made myself a blogging studio! I am still kicking myself for not taking a before picture of this space, because for over two years it was just a chair with a pile of junk on it. Now it is the perfect place for blogging. Kyle often steals it for studying, so it is a favorite spot for both of us.

October
In October, Weezer released "Everything Will Be Alright In The End", and I fell in love all over again. Seriously, I could not shut up about this album, and even did an entire blog post confessing my undying love for this band.
We also had one of the best autumns! My brother, and his wife Shannon came to Michigan to visit, and we went cider mill hopping! It was so cold, but so beautiful and it was an amazing time. We drove around looking for fall foliage to take outfit photos by, and we drank waaaaay too many pumpkin spice lattes.

We spent a good chunk of November watching a lot of our favorite TV shows, eating out, and bumming around on the weekends. Despite the crazy wind, this is one of my favorite outfits of 2014. We took this by some of the Detroit canals, aka the Detroit Moat.
I also made sweet potato pie for the very first time, and it is now my favorite pie to make! I made another one for Thanksgiving, and even made it healthier by subbing coconut oil, for butter, and it was great.

December
December has been a whirlwind! I honestly have not sat down for more than 20 minutes in over two weeks. Between work holiday parties, friends visiting from out of town, family visiting from out of town, Christmas, and now New Years, I have been pushed so far out of my introverted limits. It has been fun though, even though time has been flying by! I did get this awesome tattoo, that I just love, and am already anticipating the other six that I want to get.
As far as 2014 goes, it was really amazing. I feel like It was the year of Weezer, of house projects, of family, of friends, of beer, of long bike rides, and lots of puppy cuddles. It was a pretty good year.
