Flower Day
11:04 AM
Flower day! It is the most hectic day at Eastern Market, and somehow we get suckered into going every year. This year was better for our wallets because we already had so many seedlings growing at home, but we still caved and bought a few plants. If we ever get the yard to stay clean, there will be pics of said plants.
This year, Kyle's brother Chris joined us, as well as their Mom for the festivities. We got down there a little later in the day, because that is when the best deals are, and if we are lucky, when the crowd thins out a tad. AND, if we are extra lucky, Chris will take a bunch of awesome photos for us for the blog :)
We spent most of our time just browsing all of the sheds, but we also checked out Detroit Mercantile, which is a cool store choc-full of things I cannot afford, but of course want. Kyle did get a really yummy chai-tea Popsicle from a vendor just outside of the shop though. He then decided to model his very spiffy 90's look that he had going on.
Although it was primarily flower day, I still managed to score some produce on the cheap, woot woot! When we were done unloading all of our plants and baggage in the car for the 3rd time, we tracked down the food trucks and had some delicious tacos. I know food trucks are super trendy right now, but they are so awesome! I love getting awesome food on the cheap. I only wish that they would come by my work (hint hint Mac Shack, 1900 East Warren, get on that).
Overall, it was a great day, spent with awesome people. Thanks again to Chris for the photos!

ReplyDeleteThose photo's are amazing, so sharp. We have one small market near us, but its very expensive to buy. it is fresh and does last a long time. We need to find a proper market with a selection of fresh goods.
