Sometimes I do get frustrated with the commercialism and the hectic days leading up to the holidays, but one thing that I will always enjoy is the decorations. Something so simple as a tree with lights and random crap on it makes me feel like a little kid again, and dammit I will enjoy that!

As shown here, we went a little simpler this year with the decorations. I even went through some of the older ones and put them in a bag to be sold at the garage sale we will have in the spring. I think having a little less clutter makes the really special pieces stand out. Like this Keebler Elf ornament from the 80's, it needs to be acknowledged in all of its glory. I even went a little crazy and strung up cranberries and popcorn for garland instead of beads or tinsel, which works out well because my kitties have zero interest in them, and have taken to attacking the lights in the middle of the night instead.

Also, I went through a pretty big Eeyore phase in high school, so I have quite the extensive collection of holiday Eeyores. I never really knew what to do with them, then this year I had the great idea to put them under the tree since we never have any presents wrapped under it anyways (because Christmas ninja cats).

Kyle and I will be gathering more ornaments for the tree this season as it is looking a little sparse and I cannot wait to see what it looks like in years to come. Probably very pretty if I can only manage to stop breaking them.

  2. Aww it's getting to look like Christmas in your home! We have two cats but surprisingly they didn't fuss with the tree too much last year. We didn't get one this year since we'll be out of town. Enjoy your tree. I love the way they make the house smell so good.
