Cuomo Couture

Remember that awesome new project I was talking about? Well here it is! Over the past year I have accepted that the name of the old blog is pretty simple. I had played around with the idea of calling it "This is Sara" but "She is Sara" just had a nice ring to it. I was chatting away with my co-worker Ricky one afternoon and I mentioned that I had a great name for my blog, but I didn't want to change it. Because of my love of sharing personal style and my obvious love for Weezer, I thought a great name for my blog should have been: "Cuomo Couture" (Rivers Cuomo is the lead singer of Weezer if you are a new reader and if you have no idea who Rivers Cuomo is). Instead of tossing out a perfectly good blog name, I decided to go ahead and use the name for a new project instead where I take an outfit of Mr. Cuomo, and recreate it with my own style. Viola! Cuomo Couture.
I have used the beautiful Zooey Deschanel and the amazing Jenny Lewis as inspiration in past outfit posts, so why not my favorite member of Weezer? This is also a challenge if you haven't gathered, because of the fact that Rivers Cuomo, as far as I can tell is a guy and well, as you can tell, I am a girl. I didn't want to attempt any "uni-sex" styles, because quite frankly after selling my soul to Best Buy for 6 months and having to slave away in boring polo's and khakis, I just can't do it. So instead, I am making Rivers super-cool guy style, girl style, which in turn, makes this project even more fun for me.
So here it is folks: The inspiration for my first outfit. I was so happy to have received this jumper from Lauren, and I want to steal it!! It's a good thing that we are neighbors, and that I also get to style this up two more ways before it makes it's way down under (ha! I'm five) to the aussie members of Here to There. Oh and here are some pictures of me in my coat that I got from Value World for $7.00, and it is WARM I tell you! I may look like I am on my way out to feed my non-existing horses, but I am cozy! Oh and also some pictures of me jumping around because the FALL SEMESTER IS OVER!!!

This is a badass project! Seriously, I'm super excited to see what other outfits you get from Mr. Cuomo. It forces you to get creative, which is clearly a challenge you can rise to, because this outfit freaking rules.
ReplyDeleteAnd I lolled at "down under". Did you ever watch The Rescuers Down Under? That was the BEST movie, one of my faves as a kid. "These are NOT Joanna eggs!"

ReplyDeleteReally cool! I never would have thought of drawing fashion inspiration from Rivers Cuomo, but I'm so glad that you did! Great look...it's super fun and cute! I like Weezer too (probably not as much as you, though), although I'm not quite sure what's up with them right now...why so many different albums released this year?
ReplyDeleteBy the way, did you check out my "Guest Post Group?" I think posts similar to this one would be great for guest posts, and I'd love to have you in the group! I'm not trying to be pushy, I realize you're a busy lady, but check it out and let me know if you're interested!
