Mad Season
8:26 AM
I look so unbelievably gross in these photos, but that is what life brings us sometimes. A beautiful, cool summer that ends with a shitload of humidity. Yay.
Anyway, what we have here is basically my summer uniform for work: a sleeveless top, a patterned skirt, and flats. Of course, I am freezing my ass off at work with the AC blasting, but at least my limbs can breathe in the heat outside. I think that I have worn this skirt a billion times on this blog, but I can't help it, I is the perfect skirt for work. I feel like most skirts tend to be too short, but this one is perfect. I swear by thrift stores, you can usually find the best work clothes for super cheap at thrift stores.
I am so glad that this work week is a short one for me, because we have some fun things happening this weekend, and also because my allergies have been insane the past few days and I need some serious rest. I have been killing an average of three boxes of tissue per week at work, my nose is raw, and I cannot smell anything. Allergies suck because they are all of the symptoms of a cold, without actually being sick. Then all of the allergy meds out there just make me drowsy, so there is no win. I blame the humidity. Because of reasons.
At least I have some coffee to comfort me! Happy Wednesday!

You know what I find interesting? Fascinating, even? How different perspectives can be. This post is a good example.
ReplyDeleteYou describe your impression of your appearance and it certainly sounds valid. The heat of Summer wilts us, the daily chore of choosing something to wear grinds us down, and feeling ill makes us tired. And yet...
I see something completely different. I see a young woman on the cusp of adulthood, visibly growing up into a mature adult. A naturally-attractive woman whose gifts are blossoming like a flower in its prime. The negatives you see disappear in my view. I see your beauty, your poise and your admirable personal growth.
But maybe that's just me. :-)
I whole heartedly agree about finding great work clothes at thrift stores! Yes times a thousand!
ReplyDeleteAnd I think you look great, but I totally get that humidity thing! It is no good. Hope you get some cooler weather soon!
I agree with Ralph, I think you look fabulous (I just can't say it as eloquently). My kids both have allergies...they take liquid Benedryl and it hasn't seemed to make them drowsy, but they're 7 and 9, so maybe they don't get drowsy at that age!!! I hope you're feeling better soon!
ReplyDeleteYou look fabulous! I seriously think you have really come into your own skin lately and are glowing! Your hair is so 'Sara' :D
ReplyDeletePs. Wearing skirts a billion times is the best way to wear them! I wanna get back into outfit posts. Been getting my friend Tim to take photos of my outfits lately.. loving it.
Shush! You look awesome. I love this outfit a lot.
ReplyDeleteLove the lippy! Oh, you look so fun and summer! But I hear you about the humidity!
ReplyDeleteSuch a great summer outfit. Love your hair!
ReplyDeleteThat red lipstick looks so good on you! This entire look is good idk what you're talking about.
ReplyDeleteYou look lovely! I adore the bag!
ReplyDeleteHush you look amazing! There's something so very Mad Men about this look {at least in my personal opinion} - so perfect for summer work days!
ReplyDeleteGet well soon babe! Allergies are a pain!!
xx

Thrift stores are awesome as I can usually find skirts with great patterns that are slightly too long that I can sew to my perfect length. Store bought short skirts are always just a little to short for my liking.
ReplyDeleteDespite melting away, i'd say your looking pretty awesome :)
Well I think you look super cute even though it's humid. We're getting crazy humidity where I live too. I can't wait for cooler weather! I agree with the long thrift store skirts too. Store bought skirts don't tend to be too short on me because I'm so short but I like the freedom of being able to choose exactly where the hem hits!
