Busy, Busy
9:56 AM
I actually remembered to take pics of some of our activities over the weekend, woot. We had a pretty busy one, starting with finally getting our seeds ready for our backyard garden. We will probably pick up some more plants from Eastern Market later in the month, but I am hoping that these do well since my peppers did last year (I didn't even start those seeds until June, whoops). We also took Louie for a walk, and caught up on some of our TV shows. "About a boy" is pretty cute, if you haven't watched it.
Saturday, I somehow managed to get Kyle out of bed by 9:30 am. We made some breakfast, then took Louie for a seven mile walk, and followed that up with some yoga. I am already a newb at yoga, but teaching Kyle some stretches was fun (total blind-leading-the-blind). We then washed up, and headed down to Eastern Market for our groceries.
We had to share a coffee from that coffee cart, because holy adorable batman! Coffee was good too. After we hit up all of the vendors and shops, Kyle got a sausage pita sandwich from the meat market, and then we headed out. We stopped at the Bronx bar on the way out of the city for a beer and food for me. It was chilly, but not too bad because the sun was out. Everyone around us was having a good time, doing shots, playing pool, and I could have easily stayed there all night.
Instead, we headed home to put the food away, and then decided to start working on our DIY fire-pit. We laid the ground work (aka, dug a hole), and then borrowed my Dad's van to pick up some rocks from Kyle's Mom's house. By then it was getting late, so we had to quit for the evening.
Sunday we met up with my brother for some breakfast in Ferndale, before heading out to check out the art fair in Palmer Park in Detroit (about 3-4 miles from our house). It was super windy, but pretty, and if I had any actual money to spend on art, I probably would have bought something. Instead, we mostly walked around to check out the gardens and the old fort.
We then headed home to tackle some more chores, yay! We got the fire-pit going, it still needs a bit of tweaking, but I don't think it looks too bad considering two idiots who didn't know what they were doing built it. Kyle cleaned up some of the yard and garage, while I touched up the paint on some chairs, painted the front door, and painted a mailbox that I have yet to install. It is amazing how much you can get done when you are too broke to do anything else.

Oh..I had to chuckle when you were talking about yoga. I thought of how my mom would try to get us interested..and my brother was always the authority that we were doing it all wrong.
ReplyDeleteSo great about your garden! We have tomato plants up, but still not sure to plant them or not. Hope you had a great Cinco De Mayo!
