Five Pounds
8:21 AM
Despite the fact that I was so exhausted after work last night I plopped down on the bed and took naps until I finally went to bed, I have been pretty good at getting some cardio in everyday. All the warm weather last week was perfect for long dog walks with friends and Kyle and of course, my giant puppy Louie. My gym card has seen better days, but who wants to be indoors where it reeks of jockstraps when it is so nice out? Of course as I am writing this, there is a frost warning out, but the weatherman is promising 50’s & 60’s for the next ten days and I will take it!
With this beautiful weather among us in the Mitten, comes my motivation. I have finally lost five pounds, woot woot! I know I am not a very large person by any means, and I don’t want this blog to be a place where I whine about my weight, but I almost cried during an 80 degree day last week when I could not fit in my shorts from last year. Five pounds isn’t much, but it is a start.
Also, with the help of two friends, I am working on my 10k training. I have only ever run 5k's, and last year I ran a mere two miles. My goal is to finish the race running, even if I am slow, even if I am last. This sinus infection has set me back a little, running with snot dripping down your face is not ideal (you are welcome for that) so I have resorted to really long walks. Running will start up again this weekend, if not sooner. Another positive to getting in shape? I get to buy new clothes! Not a lot, because any extra money is going to the wedding and the house, but some summer shoes, a sundress or two and a new swimsuit might just make it on the list for this year. Plus, I have two friends who have been asking me to go thrifting, so I might have to make that happen very soon. Here is to an awesome Spring & Summer!

Great job with the 5 pounds! I lost 3 last week with the nice warm weather and long walks. We must walk together more.
ReplyDeleteGood luck with training for a 10k. I've thought about doing a 5k but I struggle running a mile, not sure if I could do 3.
Hooray for five pounds, Sara! That is such a phenomenal accomplishment!

ReplyDeleteAnd no, you are not big by any means, but I know exactly what you mean about the shorts, a ton of my summer clothes from last year cease to fit me and I was DEVASTATED.
My turn! Haha <3
