Candy Cane Farms
2:39 PM
Yesterday Kyle and I headed out to Candy Cane tree farms to get our first real Christmas tree. The place is really cool, they tag all the trees that are big enough to be cut down, and they also sell potted baby trees for people to buy and take home, which I think I might want to do sometime. I am all for planting more trees around the yard, especially ones that remind me of up north. They also had llamas and a little shop with wreaths and garlands, cookies and hot coco and sat right near a pretty lake.
Kyle and I are going to decorate the tree tonight after he gets home from work and after I finish cleaning and my paper. I really am almost done, it just needs some finishing touches really. I spent most of Friday night in the library, and a good part of Saturday there again after we brought our tree home. I have officially spent more time in that library in the past month than I have in my entire career at Oakland. It makes a person slap-happy I tell you! I am bummed that I never got around to taking photos of the campus this fall, I really wanted to. But that just gives me the excuse to do so next fall while Kyle is on campus.
I am really excited about the rest of this month though, lots of visiting with friends, sending out cards and shopping! Kyle and I are trying our best to buy local and try to make gifts this year. I want to get things for people that they will really like and also use. Plus most of us are short on money, so I am trying to figure out something fun to do with friends, like a group outing or something where we can all get together and just enjoy each others company and not have to worry about presents, and just have fun.

Awwww, you guys look adorable! We have a fake tree, so we don't get the fun of hunting for the perfect one. I would love to do it sometime, though. It would probably be a disaster with me and Mr. A -- knowing us ...

ReplyDeleteAlso, congrats on being pretty much done with your paper!
These photos are so cute! I am finding myself so homesick right now and wanting snow and christmas trees and holiday parties! I know I'll be happy to be in Cali once January and February hit, but right now it's so depressing to not have a proper holiday season! Oh and also I have to say that I really enjoyed reading your post on roll models!
ReplyDeleteWow, what a fun post! I hope you have fun with the tree. Great that you are thinking of alternative ways to spend time with friends this holiday.
ReplyDeleteAll the best!
I like your ideas.
So festive! Love your coat. We got a new blanket of snow last night. The first snow always seems to bring out the worst in..everyone on the road..though.
ReplyDeleteHope your paper turns out fabulous!!
Oh, I wonder what Louie thinks about the tree! Such a pretty tree!
ReplyDeleteHow fun! I don't know of any places in NJ where you can actually cut your own tree, but it looks fun! I have a faux tree due to a mischievous little chihuahua that lives in my house!

ReplyDeleteHow cute are you guys! Christmas trees are always so exciting. I haven't had a real tree in years. Looking forward to your decorated photos though!
ReplyDeleteI have always wanted to cut my own Christmas tree. My landlord does that (he lives in the apt downstairs). I've never done it but you make it look like soooo much fun and it must be! I buy trees from the churches around here that sell them and do the job of cutting them down.
ReplyDeleteTalk nerdy to me.
