Indian Summer

Last night I finished the last of my essays!...For last week. I only have two this week, but a huge load of reading. I have consumed so much coffee that my nose is twitching. Not in a cute way like on Bewitched, no it's more of strange prickly feeling. Now that I have the bulk of the work out of the way, I need to work on waking up on time. I have three alarms on my phone and a manual alarm and I will get up, turn it off, and then go back to sleep and not even remember doing it. I need to invest in a new alarm clock asap! Any suggestions?
As I have "punctuality" down as one of my goals, I also have "be nicer". I am really trying to be a little nicer to people, especially the people I work with because, who knows how long I will have to work with them, and it can be really nice to be friends with your coworkers. It just seems so hard at times because of the generation gap, and the fact that the majority of them are so Far Right....but I have to learn to accept people for who they are. It's a hard process sometimes, but I feel better about it. It probably helps that I have "be more patient and calm" on there as well. I can muster this for the most part, except late at night. And again, letting the little things go is fine, the little weights are lifted and then I can focus on something else.

I am told to work on my patience all the time. I hope I wrote the right one down. But its worse when you find there are other people a lot less patience than you that you work with.
ReplyDeleteIts funny, like my body wants to wake up at a certain time so I've never had that issue. Still, I am not good at going to bed on time. I love to linger on the computer when given a chance.
Great outfit!
Be Nicer is on my to-do list too. It's hard... I often find that instead of waiting to be accepted into a new social group I find my defense mechanism telling me I don't want to be friends with them anyway.. sort of like the fox that couldn't get the grapes so he convinced himself they were sour.. that old aesops fable. Anyway, I hope you achieve your list. I love lists. And now I'm rambling but I feel like I haven't left ANYONE a damn decent worthwhile comment lately. Let alone my favourite blogging pal!
ReplyDeleteGlad you finished your essays :) And you look adorable in that dress. Sits just right on you. Be sure to send it to me sometime ;)
Love ya xx
What a pretty dress! I love the tight waist and wide bottom.
ReplyDeleteBeing nice is a good thing, worth the effort. Often, we don't really know other people and dislike them for inaccurate reasons. Plus, life is hard, so most people deserve our sympathy and well-wishes. Finally, being nice to others makes you a nicer person, which is ample reason to move in this direction. I applaud your instinct.
Pretty!!
ReplyDeleteLovely dress!!

Gah! I LOVE your outfit, Sara - you look adorbs! And yayay for finishing writing assignments. School assignments are always harrowing! :P
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh. I am the same way with my alarm clock. I think I'm immune to it. haha.
ReplyDeleteReally cute dress!!!
I love your dress!
ReplyDeleteI really like this dress.
ReplyDeleteI am the same way with alarms. I have to change the ring-tone on the alarms on my phone or I get desensitized...but I can only use 3 of the loudest ones to wake me up. Then I also have a radio or buzz alarm. And a phone ring or doorbell sound alarm on my work phone.
And yet I still oversleep.
Punctuality is a huge issue for me! As is compassion for PEOPLE.
you are beyond adorable in this dress! and i'm the same way with alarm clocks, it's a natural reaction for me to just reach over and turn it off. falling back asleep is the easiest thing in the world. i was actually thinking about it...and we should get either the alarm clock that runs away, or another alarm clock that's like a target and in order to turn it off you have to take a laser pen and hit the target right in the middle. :P
ReplyDeleteI need to learn the act of waking up... I'm actually sleeping at my desk right now.
ReplyDeleteOh and my captcha word is "comatee" hahaha I'm in a coma tee right now.

You look so amazing in the dress! it's lovely :)
ReplyDeleteI'm the exact opposite, i can pretty much fall asleep anywhere but i wake up with every noise! Any alarm clock will wake me up even if it's not my own :p sucks too because I wake up too many times.

yay for finishing essays! i still have a whole bunch of college app essays to write! mamma mia! and you're looking lovely! :)
ReplyDeleteyou're so cute. i know how hard it can be to work on patience. don't let it get you down. you are pretty cool, and you have a blog you can vent on!
ReplyDeleteCute dress! :)
ReplyDeleteHa, last semester at school, I had "be nicer to people" on my list of goals, too. But it didn't go as well as I'd hoped. Maybe I'm just meant to be a sarcastic, eye-rolling little pain in the bum.
This dress is adorable, Sara! Kind of '50s-style, love!
ReplyDeleteI always try to be nice to people, even though I feel it's not appreciated a lot of the time. I feel better about myself when I do. I guess I feel like I'm "taking the high road." Still, there are always those times when you need to stand up for yourself, and niceness often doesn't work there, unfortunely :/
Boy do I know what you mean about coworkers being Far Right!! Sometimes I even feel alienated, but really I think people just fear the unknown... (So unbelieveably weird to think anyone would be afraid of me, or find me to be eclectic.) But it seems there are people out there who have really only been exposed to such a small part of the world. I can't imagine that for myself! But I guess that's the point, celebrate the differences :)
ReplyDeleteyou look stunning! Love this combination
ReplyDeleteTalk nerdy to me.
