Michigan Renaissance Festival
8:18 AM
One of my favorite things to do in Summer is to drive up to Holly MI and go to the Michigan Renaissance Festival, or "ren-fest" as we typically call it, and spend the day in the hot sun laughing, eating, drinking, and geeking out with my friends. This year, we made it to the "Highland Games" week. It was awesome watching one giant beef-cake guy haul basically a tree with no limbs across a field and then watch three scrawny guys scramble to get it back to him. There was yelling and cheering all around and we had an amazing time. Of course we aim to go again before the end of the season and we even toyed with the idea of getting a season pass for next year. I am telling you, if you live in Michigan, you should go at least once.
Of course I let Kyle take the camera so the pictures would actually come out decent, so I hope that you like them :) Jamie and I dressed up, we got pretty creative with an old Halloween costume and some florist wire and fake flowers.
The guy with the guitar is actually our friend from Grand Trunk. Their group "Stoneclover" was awesome and they got paid to sing, joke and poke fun at a few patrons :)

ReplyDeleteI am just so jealous haha! you look like such a faire maiden ;) sorry couldn't resist. ren faires might be the greatest events EVERRRRRR. Package in the mail tomorrow for you <3
ReplyDeleteLove the way both of you are dressed.
ReplyDeleteOh my god Sara! I am SO JEALOUS! You have absolutely NO IDEA how obsessed I am with Ren faires. No idea. I spent $100 last year on a bodice for my costume for the Washington Renaissance Fantasy Faire, and hand-made the rest of my costume as well as a costume for Greg. It was my third time to the same faire, and my third costume. I wear a different thing every time. I get so sad when it's over I cry! And there's jousting, and turkey legs, and the Queen, and... and and and... and jousting! And the alehouse and bottles of mead to drink while watching the joust! Oh Ren faires... I am overcome.
ReplyDeletep.s. Your Ren faire outfit is PERFECT; you totally look like an adorable fairy, but you could wear that same look in the city and not blink an eye. I love it to death. Your backpack is just adorable! Waaahhh I'm freaking out. I love this post. ;__;
