I Want The World To Stop

I often switch back-and-forth between NPR and CBC2 radio on my commutes to-and-from work in the mornings and afternoons, mostly to hear the news and weather, but also because I tend to get annoyed by most morning DJ's. Anywho, I was listening to CBC2 radio this morning, and the DJ will usually have a little anecdote before each song (much better than celebrity gossip, I tell you)  and today's was a little tid-bit from Life Hacker, on how to carry-out your goals. Instead of  stating what you want to do, make it a question. So maybe for Belle and Sebastian, "I want the world to stop", should really be "How can I spend more time with myself?"

Indeed. Something I am slowly working on, but it really isn't a terrible concept. I really like working out, so there is one way to create personal time. Our dryer is broken, so trips to the laundromat are in order. Not necessarily fun, but I did get a chance to read for a bit while waiting for clothes to wash and dry, so that was nice. Also making sure that I take all of my breaks at work, last year I skipped them all of the time.

And when all else fails, put on your headphones and ignore everyone.

  4. What a pretty hat. Finding ways to do everything we want to do is hard. Like you at the laundermat, I squeeze in stuff (like reading literary magazines) during the interstices of life (e.g., waiting for court to start).

  5. Those are great "me" time activities. I also sometimes just go outside and sit by myself to clear my head or I try to wake up earlier than everyone else. "Me" time is important. Love the photos! You look beautiful!

  10. Totally agree. It is definitely hard to find the time. I rely on my time on the bus travelling to work to get random stuff done. Love the colours you incorporated to your outfit. My favourite aspect is the coat. I have wanted a yellow coat for awhile now.

  12. You NEED to take breaks at work. I made the mistake of skipping mine all the time a few years back, and it just stressed me out - you need time to rest your mind.

P.S. I'm in love with that hat and scarf.

  14. Ugh alone time. I haven't been getting much of that since the baby was born but I like having time with myself when I'm working out or taking a bath. It is important to do!

  15. Lauren made that scarf? Awesome.
Yeah spending time with one's self is pretty hard these days. We're always connected via fb, or text messaging and I've become completely addicted to my phone. Kickboxing is the biggest thing I do for me. Driving 45 minutes to get there, working out for 60 minutes and driving home in 30 minutes is the biggest chunk of alone time I get. Always have the tunes cranking :)

I love how bright you are against that backdrop!
