Little Bits: Noel Night10:30 AM
Saturday we finally attended a really awesome event in Detroit: Noel Night. It is always hard trying to fit everything in during the holidays, and since Kyle and I went to Frankenmuth the past two years, we really wanted to do something different. It ended up being a lot of fun!
My friend Alice was kind enough to give me and my new acquaintance Zach a ride down earlier in the day so we could get dinner with her and her adorable son, Brandon. We lucked out with parking near Wayne State, and then we headed to Union Street and enjoyed a great meal, despite how crazy-busy they were. It was really cozy in there, and very festive. We then braved the cold to wander around some shops and eventually made our way to the DIA where Kyle finally met up with us. That is one of the best parts of Noel Night, all of the museums are open for free for everyone to wander in-and-out of. After that, we caught some of Zach's friends little two-piece ensemble playing some festive, holiday music, they were really good!
I think Kyle's favorite was seeing the Earth harp (giant harp) at the Garden Theater at Midtown. They too played Christmas music, but it was a lot of fun. We also hit up the food trucks on the way out to get Kyle some nomz, and then left to meet up with friends back in Ferndale.
I think next year we will plan things better. Like making sure that the camera battery is charged, Kyle requesting to get out of work earlier, and probably just driving down by ourselves because it was getting crazy trying to meet-up with our crappy phones losing signals constantly, as well as trying to make plans with friends for after. Would we do it again? Of course. We didn't even get to half of the activities that were available, so now we have something to look forward to next time. Still loads of fun, and it was very pretty downtown.
