Little Broken Hearts

For months my friend Nicole has been bugging me to take a yoga class with her because yoga is the shit. I noticed that a new studio opened up in Ferndale, Shine On Yoga, and decided to check it out. We took two classes so far, and I liked both, though last night's energetic class was my favorite. In both classes, our instructors talked about the ego, and how we need to let things go to be better people (they used better words than that, I promise). Today I was stuck in traffic, there was a heavy fog, and I was LATE. Normally I would be cranky as all hell, but this morning it was different. I accepted that I was going to be late, and it was better to just drive safely and get there when I do. Even if it means I will have to stay until midnight now (I kid), either that or I was so damn sore from said yoga that throwing a fit would require too much effort.

The crappy drive was made better by some great music, Ray Lamontage doing an acoustic cover of Gnarles Barkley's "Crazy"? Yes please! I have decided to continue with the good music and am currently enjoying Norah Jones's latest album "Little Broken Hearts". I have always liked her voice, but felt that she stuck to more simple tunes. I am so pleased with this album, she has tackled something more adventurous and managed to create an album that has the flavors of Fiona Apple and Rilo Kiley, but also keeping her own voice and style strong. The result is very haunting, but also bad ass! You go Norah Jones!

YOGA. MUSIC. COFFEE. Today is a good day :)

  1. I haven't checked out any of Norah Jones's more recent stuff - I totally should. That sounds like a good album! Yay for yoga too! And yay for this fun patterned dress!

  2. Yes,it IS better to take your time and get there safely than rush. I also look at delays, as little miracles. You weren't suppose to be there for some reason. Sometimes those delays save you from something else. Great dress Sara! I love the colors.

  4. Your hair on this post reminded me of Meg Ryan. And about getting stuck in traffic, I just experienced that last night. I was already running late to meet a friend and decided to take a cab. There's so much traffic and the cab driver taking the long road instead of a shorter one. Ugh. I don't like to snap or keep any negative emotions and it took me a while to just let it go and accept that I'll be late. I've done yoga before, and I think I need to do it more often.

  6. I know exactly what you mean about letting go
My husband and I were supposed to meet last evening and he was running late. Instead of being angry at him, I realized that he must have been rushing to see me from work and feeling terrible about being late himself, so I just calmed down and waited. It really worked and avoided a pointless argument! :)

Love your dress BTW - such pretty colours!
