Pants Are Lame

In my last post I complained about not having an excuse to buy back-to-school clothes this year because I am no longer in school. Normally I would just buy clothes anyway, but since the wedding will be upon us in just over five weeks, I can’t really afford to buy new clothes for the hell of it. Unless, I am replacing some other item of clothing that can no longer be worn.

When Kyle and I first moved into our house, a year and a half ago already, we were very thankful to receive a washer and dryer from two different people who no longer had need for them. I used to like going to the laundry mat, personally. I would often bring a book with me or homework and pretend like I was living in some cool city like New York instead of a boring suburb, but my vivid imagination wasn’t enough to make up for all of the quarters needed to wash all of our clothes each week. Free appliances? Yes please! However, the only downside is the small bit of rust in either the washer or the dryer. Rust that often ends up on our clothing and most recently, all over the butt of my grey corduroy pants, resulting in a stain that resembled shit. Sad as I was to part with my pants, I did not want to look like I pooped in them so I took the opportunity to buy new ones, hence the trousers in these photos.

I stand at 5 feet 6, and most of my height is in my torso. So, pants like these are usually avoided by people with my shape and size, wearing them with flats didn’t help here either. But “What not to wear” and Cosmo be damned! I love these pants! Trousers have a cozy, and a vintage feel to them, as well as being pants I would typically see on an old man, and now they are mine! Muwahaha! And besides, my butt is happy in these pants, even if pants are lame.

  1. You look ADORABLE. The pants serve as a sturdy foundation for the outfit. The print of the top is amazingly pretty and the flats work perfectly.

Speaking as a daily wearer of pants, they get a bad rap for being boring but that's because they're basic: nothing basic is exciting, but it is essential. These fit you right, do their job and show up for work.

Like your story about laundromats and home-laundry. When I was young, I too carried coins to the public places and imagined myself a struggling writer eager for material.

  4. Wow. You stand so tall! I'm only 4'11 and I pretend that I'm a 5' but not really. Haha!

When you're in school, you hate it. But when you're out of school, you miss it. Congrats with the free appliances. Those kinds of things doesn't come by that often. Wish someone would hand me down a washer as well.

  11. I think they look cute and together the outfit is great! Too funny about liking to go out to do laundry. I loathe it and one thing I don't like about living in NYC is that simple fact! haha

Also, love your song pick of the day.

  13. I think they're lovely! Everyone has a washing machine here, almost all rental flats have them and there's hardly any launderettes. I can't imagine what it'd be like to have to go out to wash clothes, I'm so disorganised, I barely remember to do it at home!

  20. I love, love, love those trousers. Pants are so NOT lame. I have actually been having a love affair with black skinny cigarette pants lately, seems I have like four pairs now! Now I am on the quest for a pair similar to yours, thanks for the inspiration!

  21. Honestly, these pants are ill-fitting at all. I have a similar pair of blue ones that I love to wear and I'm shorter than you. And it's better that you wear these cute pants instead of the rust-colored ones, lol.

  25. haha let all those shows be damned. I watch shows like that and I'm look at my outfit and I'm like "heeeeey I'm wearing all that crap" haha woops! I think you look adorable. But I actually don't own pants or jeans. I hate them...I just go around in skirts and dresses. I know that's weird but that's my life. I actually went to a bachelorette party this weekend and the dress code was jeans and black tee. WHAT!!!!???? I almost didn't go. I bought jeans wore them that afternoon, and returned them the next morning (is that bad)? They are confining, and uncomfortable. Ooops and now I've gone and ranted. Jeans/pants are lame.
