Wedding Venue Sneak Peak

8:11 PM

Since I have been in super-productive planning mode, I thought I would share a little sneak-peak of the wedding venue on the blog. I do want the actual big day to be a surprise, but we had so much fun on Saturday and ideas are buzzing, I thought I could spare a few pics.

The venue is Cobble Stone Farms in Ann Arbor, Michigan. It is literally, a giant barn on a historical site in the city. The care-taker's house is beautiful and historic, and there are several amazing places to hold the ceremony outdoors as long as the weather is nice -which we are hoping for (squeeee outdoor in the fall!!). The area around the venue is very pretty and luckily enough Kyle's brother & his wife (our photographers) have shot a few weddings there and know where the best spots are.

The place has no staff at all, so we get to pick the caterer, bartender, decorations-everything. It is going to be a lot of work planning, making and setting up everything, but I like to make and plan things. We don't even need to have a real caterer, we could literally just bring food from home-which we plan on bringing some. The employees will set up the tables however we want, but the rest of the decor is up to us. This will be a real DIY wedding, as we are making most of everything.

I was not kidding about it being a barn! There are two ponies, goats, geese and chickens on-site.
I think we picked this place as soon as we pulled in because I kept yelling "PONIES!" in pitches only dogs could hear.

Well there is a little sneak-peak! So far I have the colors picked out, most of the decor picked out, what the bridal party is wearing, and some of the food picked out.I also have my dress! I actually bought it at the end of last Summer and I really need to get it from my parents house so I can figure out what I am going to wear with it.  Next up we have lots of crafting, pick out and send our "Save the dates" and pick out the caterer-so excited!

  13. Wow! That venue looks amazing! I used to work on the clean up staff for my church. And I saw quite a few weddings that were like a pot-luck. Which I always thought was a really cool way to do a wedding. Instead of buying presents all the guests brought food or booze. They were always loads of fun, you should absolutely bring food from home.
