Turkey Time

7:10 PM

It is no secret that I love holidays, I honestly love being festive in general. Everything from decorations to dressing up for costume parties, I am there! For holidays like Halloween and Christmas I go all out, but for the smaller holidays, I try to be a little subtle while still being festive. Since Thanksgiving pretty much marks the end of my favorite season, I have to pay some homage to it. I love seeing all of the little Thanksgiving decor around the house, and it is nice to change up the place every now and then.

This year we are planning on heading downtown to Detroit to see the parade and I am super excited because my brother David will be on leave from the Marines by then! We will probably "watch football" aka, watch Christmas movies and eat dinner with the Fam. Hopefully we will also make it out to see a movie with Kyle's family too, since we typically do and there are soooo many movies coming out. I am not going to lie, I am pretty pumped up about the new Muppets movie.

What are your Thanksgiving plans?

  16. I love your decor! My mother and I have more fun decorating the house for holidays than we do on the actual day itself!

I can't say that Turkey Day is a favorite of mine (my dad is a pretty accomplished cook so it's not like t-day is the one time we can have turkey in my family and the extended family lives out East so we never have a mass get together). Nevertheless, the one day I felt horribly homesick last year was on Thanksgiving, when the closet I got to a meal was a brie and cranberry bagel. This year I'm determined to do it right! Since Thanksgiving is only an American holiday, it will take some extra effort and orchestration to put something together in Edinburgh. However, I have enough American friends missing some good ol' green bean casserole and enough ravenous British friends, that my flatmate and I are attempting to organize a potluck.

I'm excited for the "new" blog by the way. The name is fun and very apt. I like how you actually acknowledge how much Kyle contributes instead of being one of those cutesy bloggers who calls their significant other "the boy". Speaking from personal experience, revamping or creating a new blog when you go through life changes is a good way to compartmentalize your life and move on. It's hard to make progress when you're holding on to vestiges of your past and good for you for realizing this. I'm excited for this new phase. I already love your new "about me" the grapefruit simile is hilarious and a nice Gilmore Girls reference ;)
