So, I am sitting at Caribou Coffee in Royal Oak and there are two big burly guys behind me talking about 80's music and one of them just admitted that his favorite movie is "Pretty in Pink". I think that has to be the cherry on top of a very easy-going, and wonderful birthday. Yep, today is my birthday, and I am the rip-old age of 26. I am getting old! I did however receive an invitation to a college Halloween party this weekend, that I may or may not attend so I guess I am only as old as I feel. Or something.

I am actually really excited about this party because the guys in my Shakespeare seminar are throwing it and other "kids" from our class are going to be there. I love this class so much, I know I talk about it a lot but it is the first class where the majority of the people in the class are my age, as well as being complete dorks like me! We spend at least ten minutes before class and after the break discussing things like Buffy, Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings, and Star Wars. I know right?! There are only about 12 of us in the class, and we created "Shakespeare Cafe" last week when one student brought in coffee and brewed it for us, and our professor brought is scones.  We are even taking a group trip to see Anonymous next Friday. You know you are in a room full of English majors when you ask where someone went, and their reply is "He took the Narnia exit".   OU, why are you making it so hard to leave in December?

So for my birthday, I went to work (boo!) and then I came home and Kyle brought me flowers and bought me some new Converse, they are beautiful! Then we went to Mongolian BBQ in Royal Oak to stuff ourselves with stir-fry and now we are at Caribou, Kyle is studying and I am blogging, and eavesdropping. It has been the most amazing day, I love it!

These pictures are from Monday, I attempted to dress all spiffy and professional for work with this awesome skirt my bestie got me awhile back. Kyle said that I looked like Diane Keaton and I was so happy, I love that woman. Seriously, Annie Hall is one of my favorite movies. I could totally do office clothes if they were always like this, colorful and cozy, not the cold black pants and skirts that are draped all over the racks at the mall, yuck. Although, I could go for some black skinnies, Audrey Hepburn style, just need to lose a few more pounds. Not like that is going to happen this week, my mom is making me pot roast with potatoes and carrots and a confetti cake for my birthday on Sunday! I always pick a different cake every year, I don't know if I have a favorite, probably cheesecake.

As well as the party and the birthday festivities this weekend, I have a TON of homework to do. In my Modern Lit class, we are reading "Death of a Salesman", and I just read it last semester with the same professor. So, like the dork I am I asked what I should do and now I am re-reading it, as well as reading "The Metamorphosis". Most kids would take the play they already read but me? No, I am going to re-read it, as well as another book and do a group project with my Shakespeare group as well as prep for a midterm. Go me.
