Over the weekend I decided to get a little creative with some of the T-shirts I own by converting them into crop tops for summer. I think I am going to try bleaching some of them to give them a little more of a faded look since a few are still a little boring. It did feel pretty good having on a loose, light-weight top on instead of tucked in for once! I even left a few a tad longer so I could wear them to work (tucked in) and then just un-tuck them when I leave. I am trying to be a little more inventive with the summer clothes since I usually just want to throw on a dress and a belt and be done.

Kyle and I have been working our butts off on the yard the past week or so! Everything from pulling weeds to moving rocks, planting more plants, laying down pebbles-you name it. Things are starting to come along though, the veggies plants are getting HUGE and I am determined to make pesto sauce this weekend *drool*. My wildflowers are not really coming up-or they just look like weeds, haha. I put down an entire bag of miracle grow so whatever they are, they will be big at least! Kyle bought a citronella plant that really does work at keeping the bugs away, I was surprised, and we bought a bright red bistro set so there is some color in the backyard! We still have a lot of work to do, but I am hoping to have pics soon!

Okay, onto more important, and more adorable matters. Say hello to baby Serenity! Isn't she tiny?? oh but so sweet. I got to hold her for about an hour on Sunday and she was just so peaceful. Maria just looked so amazingly happy and at ease with her, like it was the most natural thing. Maria is the one friend that I just immediately pictured as a mother one day, things just seem to come to her naturally. I have probably only seen her get upset an handful of times in the ten years that I have known her, she is going to be an amazing parent. The picture is a little blurry because I didn't want to use the flash and wake her up, but you can still tell how sweet little Serenity is. Even though I am still completely terrified to have my own kids, I am very happy for Maria and Cix, and I am happy that I have a baby to play with when I visit now, muwhahaha!

  2. Oh man, baby Serenity is so cute. This picture actually made my day since she is so tiny! And I have much appreciation for your Michigan State shirt as well as its DIY croppedness. I keep on ending up in Detroit during spontaneous trips but wish I could meet you in person. I don't have a car, so the trips are never up to me. I just got back today. We went to study at 1515 Broadway coffee shop and went to the Eastern Market. Where do you go to hang out? We have been on the hunt for other places to visit! xx

  5. What a beautiful name for the baby! Just precious. Oh..cool about the T's. Another great way to show off a shirt that well, you might not want to wear anymore..make it into a picture with a cheap frame. These are usually T's of your favorite movies or something.

Hope you have a great week..and fun with those t's.

  7. Such a beautiful picture of the baby!

Yes, summer means cropped tops!..or maybe even a halter dress from a T-shirt too. Oh, the possibilities. I saw this maxi skirt..made out of tiers of old clothes. I kept thinking that would be so hard. But I don't think so now. I should just make one. And not dwell on it.

Hope you guys are keeping cool. Its really hot and humid here.

The baby looks so sweet and peaceful (and I'm not a baby person). Some things just come naturally I guess! Kisses :)

  20. Baby!! So cute. My friend (who is 19) is in love with them right now. I told her it was her maternal instinct setting in haha.

And nice idea with crop tops! Sadly this tummy's gotta get a little tighter before I think of doing that!

And second, we have a basil plant on our fire escape that is getting so huge that we are planning on making a vegan pesto this weekend!!! I can't wait. i haven't had it in a while because most places it isn't vegan so you know we're going to go to town with this.
