Deluxe Breakup

9:19 AM

I had originally chose to ignore the stupidity that I have seen this week, but, alas, when I came across this, I had to respond: To the idiots out there who want to raise $10 million to stop a band from making music, how about using that money to feed starving children all over the world? And while you're at it, crawl out from under your parents basement, dab on some pimple-remover and get a life. Seriously. I even have an undying hatred for the band Nickelback, but I would never stoop this low. If you don't like the music, don't buy it. So you liked Pinkerton, we all liked Pinkerton, but how can you just make the same album over and over again? Oh yes, the same album, that everyone complained about back in 1996 when it was released, calling it utter crap, and now you want that album created over and over again? Le sigh, people. Weezer doesn't care, they are just going to keep making music either until they get bored and start ten side-projects like everyone else, or until they are all really old and want to retire.

Now that that is out of the way, what else could be going on in the world that is worth mentioning? How about the rescue of 33 miners in Chilie!?! It's amazing that on Wednesday, those men will be finally be able to come home to their families. They are very noble men who are actually all volunteering to go last. I know it sounds a little selfish, but it really is nice to hear about something so positive in the news, and to hear how postive all those men are.

For the update in the world of Sara, I spent all weekend doing homework. I must say, I need a laptop! I sat at AJ's cafe in Ferndale for 6 hours, typing up my essays, and I am STILL not done. I have work and school tonight and I have to somehow type up the last of my last essay and have it submitted by midnight. My brother Mark has an old laptop that he said I can have, I just need a power-cord for it. It was really nice to sit somewhere, listen to Elliot Smith for a few hours and not have to worry about the dishes in the sink or having to take Louie out (he went to my Mom's to play with her dogs, but got a big walk from me after the homework). The guys went to tailgate at the Michigan-Michigan State game, and I missed out on all the fun, but this weekend looks a little more promising.  I just have to get all that reading done. Lists, Lists, Lists, I swear.

Onto the outfit, sorry the skirt is so wrinkled, but this is my new favorite outfit, so comfy! Oh and by the way, I got glasses. They are real glasses, apparently my left-eye is on the fritz, so I get to wear these while driving, looking at anything far away, anything really bright (computer screens, scoreboards) basically about %90 of my day. I thought I did Weezer some justice with these bad boys.  I also got a copy of the rx so I can get some vinatge cat-eye frames sometime :) :)

  1. Omg we're almost glasses twinsies! And this outfit is super cute and comfy; I would wear this exact thing if I could. Loving the moccasins, and that t-shirt! It is so accurate. :)

Also re: Weezer. I agree, wtf is wrong with people, raising money to make a band retire? What do they even care?? Just stop buying their albums if you don't like the music. So ridiculous.

  2. Even though I don't really like Weezer I still wouldn't support a band quitting. It's their own art and they have the right to play what they want. People need to get over themselves and not worry about everyone else so much. Whoever started that is in fact very lame hah!

And oh I miss our dog walks... I miss you! I'm jealous of your glasses, I need new ones.... blerg.

  5. Yea. I heard about the Weezer thing via radio. I was hoping it was a joke but...

Grr. Nickelback. I hate that band with a fiery passion.

I really like your glasses. Are they Ray Ban? The logo on the side looks like it might be. I have a pair myself. :D

  6. it's fascinating to me that people would put that much effort into discouraging a group they dislike. i've hated drake for the better part of a year (though sadly my disdain is beginning to wane), but i don't know that i'd go so far as to raise money to end his career. seems a bit extreme. nonetheless, i like your glasses. i've been contemplating getting a similar pair of frames.

  12. I hear you Sara- there are so many worthier reasons to raise money in the world. Your hair's looking auburn/russett in the sun. Sigh-I'm green with envy!

  14. Oh, this is so cool. Love the glasses. So sad about Weezer. I hope Weezer gets rich & continues with their music.

  15. I agree. How unbelievably wasteful and selfish. I hate a lot of bands that are popular, but it's personal taste and, really? we're going to waste money and this much energy on this???

  16. what an awesome T-shirt! How could somebody do that to Weezer? I'm hoping the miners get out of there soon. Love those glasses!

  17. Haha cute glasses and t-shirt! Omgosh I heard about the miners, I'm so glad for them! And that Weezer thing seems like such a waste of time, seriously you're right, money like that should be used for more important things going around the world!

  18. You're not going to like every band you hear, but pull a stunt like that is not very productive. If he doesn't want to look like a d-bag, he should funnel his energy towards helping others.

  19. Oh wow, that's interesting, I haven't heard about a group attempting to raise money to stop a band from making music?! I agree, why not put the effort into something more meaningful:) I'm so glad that the miners will soon return to their families! I can't even begin to imagine what they went through. You look cute with glasses, Sara! I think vintage cat eyes would be awesome!

  20. I've been trying to think of tees and skirts I can pair together, so this look was inspiring for me! I have a lot of cute logo tees that I used to wear almost every day with jeans until I got bored with doing that every single day...so I haven't really worn them in a while now since I got sick of them but am wanting to drag them back out and reinvent with them. I have tons of skirts I never wear. I think I should just start putting them together randomly and stop overthinking how they look together and whether or not they "match" and just DO it!
