Go Green Go White

7:49 AM

When you live in the Mitten, tailgating is part of your lifestyle. Either you participate in actual tailgates, or you hear about them at some point. I always heard about them and never saw the point. Getting up at the crack of dawn, hauling out grills, footballs, beer and brats? And....football? I never really cared for football. I can sit through a Tigers game, I played soccer, basketball, ran track and cross-country, but football? No. Oakland doesn't even have a football team, we are all about basketball. They give you free food and T-shirts if you show up to games :P Either way, my neighbor and friend Erin is an alumni from Michigan State in Lansing and she told me that tailgating was fun and we should all go out on a Saturday and try it. Well last Saturday, we did. And she was right! It was a lot of fun. We had a good group of five: Erin, Catrina, Kyle, Dan and I. At 10am I cracked my first beer and 20 minutes later I had a brat for breakfast.

Erin and I headed out early to scout out a good spot, we left just after 6:30 am. I even got to bum around the campus a little with her before we got started. She even let me borrow her gear, I was an honorary Spartan for the day.

Yes, the guys did show up like that. It was awesome! They were definitely crowd pleasers.

See? These girls wanted a picture as soon as the guys showed up!

Catrina had her first PBR! Not sure what Kyle was doing though.

After tailgating, we headed to the bar right off campus and watched the game. And we drank...a lot. We sobered up after by walking around and eating a ton of yummy pizza. Needless to say I think there will be more posts like this :)

Gang's, all here!

  1. It's true -- hanging out with friends in situations like this can be lots of fun, even when you don't expect it beforehand. I've tried several similar situations and come away with the same big smile you have. They taught me to always be open to new experiences. Glad you had fun!

  6. I'm a bit confused, here tailgating is when you follow behind another car too closely and it is really annoiying when someone does it to you. I'm assuming that this is another kind of tailgating haha. Looks like you had fun though.

I definitely think you should do an outtakes post so I don't feel like a loser so much, haha, I plan on doing more as I have sooo many outtakes!

Also, Congratulations in your feature below, you deserved it.
