Nine Years

6:37 AM

Thursday, August 19th, Kyle and I celebrated 9 years together. We originally were going to go to the Inn Season Cafe, but it was closed for the week, so we went to the Royal Oak Brewery, which was about a block away and had yummy flat bread pizza and veggie burgers. Then we headed downtown to have some frozen yogurt and just walked around all night. Since we both had to work Friday, we didn't stay out too late, and decided to continue the celebration on Saturday.

So on Saturday we slept in really late, got up and walked Louie then headed to Delmar's restaurant for some yummy breakfast (they serve breakfast all day) then we decided to go thrifting since Kyle didn't get to go last week and we got so many cute things, I really cannot wait to wash everything and style them up. Kyle got a lot of cute shirts and a few pairs of pants. Then we raided the grocery store, took Louie for another big long walk and stayed in for the night to watch movies. We had an 80's theme and watched "The Toy", which was hilarious, and "Willow" which is awesome.

We also decided to have a late-night, very tired looking photo shoot in the bedroom. Sexy huh? I am just so happy to be with Kyle and I could not have asked for anyone else in the world to be with me for nine years and I am still in love with him as much as I was way back when, on a late September evening, when I first told him that I loved him. He is the closest person in the world to me, he is my best friend. :)

  12. thanks so much for your comment! I'm glad someone else agrees with me on the dressing your age issue. So many bloggers who are nearly 30 are wearing 1960s shifts with alarming floral patterns on them. Either they can pull it off better than I can or we're all a little confused. I think sometimes the blogosphere, as sartorially liberating as it is, can promote looks that are a little too weird or too young to be wearing in public and if you see too many of them you can start to think that's how to dress normally haha. The blogosphere encourages me to pattern mix, wear zany colors, dorky prints, etc. Although its great to have fun when you get dressed in the morning, sometimes I think I'm having too much fun. I think what the blogosphere praises as great pattern mixing just makes me look like the "weird" girl to others. I will never be the normal Barbie girl, but I don't want to get instantly labeled as that "quirky" girl either. Sometimes quirky is a flattering term, but other times it just makes you feel like some anomaly. And there are times when I've worn a crazy colored outfit and later become embarrassed by it (there was a time I wore a blue/purple dress with purple tights AND a yellow cardigan, it was nuts and I felt a little too "loud" in it). Also, to be totally candid with you here, I think part of the reason I never get asked out by anyone is because I dress a bit too weird. I hate to admit I'm inspired to dress my age because of guys, but I'm tired of being ignored and single. I don't want to play the "best friend" role in my life anymore, I want to be the leading lady haha and leading ladies don't wear berets ALL of the time. But I do agree, casual/creative fridays sound like a great idea.
