She & Him Michigan Blogger Meet-up!

6:14 PM

A Sunday of Sundays! Last night was the She&Him MI blogger Meet-up and it was awesome! A bunch of us met up in Royal Oak for some food at the Royal Oak Brewery, waited out the rain, and took some outfit pics, Kyle was sweet enough to take some group pics of us girls as well.

Next was the She&Him concert, which was simply amazing! They played almost all of their songs and some covers to boot, I had an amazing time and I have to say that they are just as good live as on their albums, if not better. The place was packed. It was a sold-out show, people were standing on each other practically but I danced as best I could and LOVED every minute of it. All the band guys, including Matt were clad in plaid, and Zooey and the Chopin sisters all wore white dresses and black tights. I wanted to jump on stage and purpose to Matt but I am pretty sure security and Kyle would have been pissed over that so I just admired him from the crowed. I really hope they come back to MI again, they were amazing.

We headed up to the bar Gusoline alley in Royal Oak for a few beers after the show and Maria meet up with us. I have to say, we had a great group of MI bloggers here and I felt so comfortable with all of them :)

  22. RE your comment: Yes, I have taken two photography classes! I took two years of photography in high school, first year was black and white darkroom photography, it really helps you appreciate the process of developing photos (it shows just how simple finishing a photo can be instead of overdoing it in photoshop)and causes you to pay way more attention to what you're photographing (you only have like 24 photos per roll so you cannot be too hasty, I'm a lot more careless with digital) and helps you develop the skill more (you have 24 shots so you can't screw around with the shutter speed etc. you better know it). The second year was digital, so we had more freedom and I prefer the medium, the dark room was never romantic for me, but a good learning tool. Then I needed an art credit in college, so I took a digital photo class (a lot of my photos this past fall on the old blog were from that class and my header on my blog is from it, my prof helped me combine the two photos that created that image). The prof was a little crack pot sometimes, he would whip out photographic theory from Susan Sontag and half the time we got his assignments totally wrong, he had some really nontraditional views of normal concepts like negative space (usually it means creating a lot of blank space in the frame and the subject is only a small part, he thought it meant "disorientation" haha), but that definitely got me shooting more, working on specific projects, and taught me about more photographers besides the classics. Now I no longer find taking photos for an assignment a chore, but a challenge. I'm trying to break out of my ruts as a photographer and find a style. Oh and it helps that my dad is really into photography so he's a good resource

    woah sorry for the novel!

Thanks for the note. Hopefully, I'm not getting too personal..but I think we are all curious in the Doyle & Roger situation..just who's the girlfriend in that relationship. Hopefully, it won't be too explicit for anyone.
